I think it's more applicable to say that some people like their cars loaded with extra features, while others are not interested.

My g-f FINALLY upgraded her Intensity to an I-Phone 4S. But now she's scared to turn the damn thing on until the next billing cycle. Driving me nuts!

Regardless, your point of view is still fucked up. Again...you're arguing that the model T was good enough.

You have yet to acknowledge that you even understand that metaphor.

I'm going to break down this metaphor completely then.

You're saying a smart phone of today would be comparable to a Model T in the car world of then. Which would be completely wrong. A Model T would be much more comparable to a simple flip phone of 2002 well before the smartphone era since it was the first mass produced car in simple terms. Still better than the very first cars but nothing like a smartphone or new car. When you get into cars today this would fit the smartphone to other phones much better in your metaphor. You take a car of now, which I'm fine with, but the new generations add in just a tiny bit better computer or different flash of the ECU for 5hp but pretty much the same on everything else, is it needed to make it run better. No it's not.

For your metaphor to work the proper way, you would be best to change it to a more modern car as they fit the bill on the smartphone debate than and in the progression of technological advances.

So you're saying that when Ford built the ecoboost engine, it wasn't necessary?

How about when Nissan stopped producing the SR or RB series engines?

Obviously, you don't understand metaphors.
I understand metaphors and I your metaphor doesn't work, you're trying to compare a very old car with bare minimum advancement in the respective car field to a smartphone with a very high advancement in development. I don't see how you could even try and use that as a comparison.

The Ecoboost motor is freaking awesome, high gas mileage from it and super high HP output. Why would it not be needed. You gotta understand, I want more and more power from a car without sacrificing gas mileage. Trying to compare car development to cell phone develop is apples to oranges.

And I wish Nissan still made the RB series. Probably one of the best engines ever built, the only place I could agree with you on car development as to why it was stopped.

And your post above this one is finally the first real good answer I've heard about any of this development in the cell phone area. My only thing is don't make the current crop of phones or screen sizes unavailable because some people, like you need it and some people, like me do not. I don't want to get something I have no need for.

And Beth true. It is like when you go to a dealership and it has all those options you don't need but some people would want those luxuries.

Ok, skyline. I'm done with this thread. You're either young, or a redneck, or an unfortunate mixture of both.

Either way, you're fucking wrong.

Ok can we just drop the metaphor shit and get back to what this thread was originally about? Yes everyone has their different opinions and different phones. Move on.

its just the latest OS. android likes to name their latest OS releases after sweet snacks. android 2.3 was gingerbread. android 3.0 was honeycomb. 2.2 was froyo (?)

ice cream sandwich is apparently just a very very basic form of android. its supposedly flawless and its been lauded for its usability (many writers say it blows iOS 5 out of the water).. however, one downside of ICS is its very impersonal.

android is just a cell phone/tablet operating system. its hard to explain, but it allows for a large array of apps and games and uses.

droid is android. the difference is droid are a specific line of android phones. just marketed differently. each brand has a different interface (motoblur and HTC sense) but the overall OS is the same.
