@NYP_Brooksie My information is if Bobby Ryan is traded tonight he's not coming to New York.

The plot thickens!
I think Toronto is still the front the runner.

I hope Bobby doesn't get traded. Anaheim will be needing replacements for Koivu and Selanne eventually, but he's a rare talent. If we're truly "out of the running', then that's stupid. We have the resources to offer multiple wingers and defensemen. We'll never get to the holy grail by letting the really good players go elsewhere, while we dabble in "less resource" expensive 'B' talents, which are usually had for the dreaded '2nd rounder'. Put up or shut up TP. If Regier is still that same overvaluing, discount type GM, then I have no idea how we're going to get those cups. You have to take a plunge sometimes to do that, especially with a coach who's system isn't capable. I hope Ville Leino and Ehrhoff wasn't our plunge. I love that they cost nothing to get, but they're not elite talent. That elite talent WILL COST YOU, and the opportunities to obtain them rarely knocks.

I've watched Bobby most of his career. He's not playing great right now, but he's being bounced all over hell. He's a natural RW, but has been playing LW, and even C during injuries. He's a great, competitive player who likes to play with a physical edge. I'm POSITIVE that Sabre fans would love him, and that he'd be a great piece of the puzzle.

This is a fairly old thread, back when there was stipulation about Ryan getting traded.

Well, Bruce doesn't seem to be able to turn around the Ducks, so unless they are waiting on Koivu and Blake's injury returns after x-mas, they will probably be sellers soon. I've heard that the GM's do A LOT of chatting during the freeze. Just hoping that if they're still open to trading Bobby that DR is pursuing.

I'd rather throw my our players for Getzlaf or Perry in return. Or even Suter from Preds. Ryan would be a project IMO...

How is a consistent 30 goal getter in his mid 20s a project? Yeah. He's a project to become a 40 goal scorer.

I'd like to see Ryan get 80+ points first.

He got 71 last year, so it's a start.

The moment he gets 80+ points, he's untradeable.

Gretzky got traded after 1,669 points in 696 games.

I'm not sure a guy with 220 points in 285 games would be untradable after getting 80 points in a year.

No one is "untouchable" in the NHL. All they need is the right package deal.

Roy got traded one year after he won his second Stanley Cup.

won in 92-93, traded in 95-96. lets say 3 years. and the roy situation was based on patrick roy refusing to take part with anything montreal canadien based. not because they wanted to.

3 years is good then, and I know the situation he was in.

Just using an example of an important player traded excluding all other factors.

Ducks GM Bob Murray said today that all his players except Selanne and Koivu are available.

This has set off a flurry of "rumors" that Ryan Getzlaf is available.

Of course WGR55 talked about Buffalo - Anaheim trade proposals all day.

Toronto was speculating the Leafs could grab Getzlaf.

Getzlaf is having an off season; but at 26, I seriously doubt he's washed up, or even close to it.

I just don't see the two clubs making a deal. Plus, Bob Murray is one of Brian Burke's closest friends.

Burke and Murray have been bed-buddies with trades lately. It wouldn't shock me at all if TOR got Getzlaf if(highly doubtful) it happens. I'm going to say Murray is just posturing. Funny part is Selanne and Koivu SHOULD be the guys available. It's beneficial to both. Anaheim would save Samueli's cash, they'd get draft picks, and the old guys get a shot at a cup. Sounds like Murray bumped his head, "duye, havin a bad year guys, who wants my young stars, gotta keep the old guys though, who will be free agents."(Saku MAY have 1 year left. Too lazy to look.)
