Correct - outside of the local area, Center Ice provides the MSG feed through "In-Demand." But Center Ice blacks out all local broadcasts, which are provided instead directly through the cable/satellite company on a separate channel. In Tampa, I get all Sabres games via Center Ice with MSG feed, but all Lightning games are directly on the Sun Sports station.
The down-side of Center Ice is that only 1 game (at least on Fios in Tampa) per day is broadcast in HD (usually Bruins, Caps, Penguins), all the rest are terrible (worse than average) quality standard def. I never get MSG-fed Sabres games in HD with Center Ice, even though MSG broadcasts Sabres games in HD. That's what really irritates me. I'm questioning if Center Ice is worth the money, given the lack of HD broadcasts.

then that the NHL wasn't giving them the feeds....i mean it was awful. I jumped ship as soon as I could and went back to DirectTV. Same price and a million times the coverage. When it comes to hockey Direct really is the best. Their customer service blows and they have issues but their Center Ice package is the best.
