He's toast in NH and the rest of the north-east...he may get some play in the south, but that's about it.
He's not a serious candidate...he'll just get the fundie votes and whatever stats have large numbers of fundies....but that won't get him anywhere near the nomination.

Plus, on a practical level...he looks like he's 12 and running for student body president, not POTUS.

Holy crap, this might be the first time that everyone has agreed about something in a political thread.

Thank you, Rick Santorum, for bringing our sabres family together again, just by being the frothy mixture of feces and anal lube we all know you are.

Personally I'm pissed because I wanted to see a debate between Bachman and Palin. I feel I was robbed of one of the best hours of television ever. :snooty:

This is a little old, but funny as hell. I should note it has been claimed to be satirical.

Rick Santorum Declares War On Heavy Metal

Posted by majestic on February 11, 2012

Rick Santorum - CaricatureKeith Spillett’s satirical article on Santorum at The Tyranny of Tradition blog is the funniest political story I’ve read this week. Or this year.

Rick Santorum has been on the offensive lately, but his target has not been Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney or even President Barack Obama. For the past week, Santorum has been using his campaign to take aim at an issue he feels to be the single most dangerous force in America today: Satanism in heavy metal. “If you listen to the radio today, many of these brand new, so-called heavy metal music bands like Black Sabbath, Venom, The WASP and Iron Maiden use satanic imagery to corrupt the minds of young people,” announced Santorum at a 10,000 dollar a plate sock-hop in Valdosta, Georgia on Thursday.

Santorum’s popularity in the polls has grown substantially since he began speaking out against metal and its assault on traditional values. He has spent much of the past week in the Midwest encouraging young people to stay away from metal artists and listen to performers like Michael W. Smith and Pat Boone. In a recent Gallup Poll, 87 percent of Republican voters think that the biggest problem in America today is “the demented bloodlust of teenagers caused entirely by heavy metal music.”

In the past, Santorum has accused heavy metal of being the cause of some of the worst crimes in American history including the attempt on the life of Ronald Reagan in 1981, 9/11 and the passage of Obama’s Health Care Bill. He stepped up his rhetoric in a speech on Wednesday when he implied that heavy metal is the cause of many forms of mental illness as well as lactose intolerance.

It’s probably not a coincidence that since he began his crusade against metal that his poll numbers have been surging upwards. Picking out a small and unique group, singling them out as “other” and using them to frighten the masses is a proud tradition in American politics. However, many commentators believe that his call for metal internment camps goes too far…

This guy is batshit. In fact, all those candidates are batshit. It's leading me to believe they are pandering to people who are batshit as well.

Did I forget to mention he's now the front-runnner @ 34%. Even scarier is his 34% of supporters are far more sure of him than Mitt's 32% are of him. Holy fuck are people stupid.

As a military vet and a husband of a bad ass Air Force chick, saying this guy is scary is an understatement. He has come out saying that gays should not serve in the military and he will turn back the clock on that law. He also recently, in response to the military re-tooling the roles women will play in forward combat positions, that he thinks it is a bad idea. He's a fundamentalist of the worst order and if this guy is elected I will lose all faith in what this country stands for. He's bad for religious freedom, he's bad for civil rights, he's bad for personal freedoms and is in lock step with religious fringe opinions that the majority don't agree with. I have zero problem with religious people having beliefs based on faith and the spiritual traditions of religious documents, I do however have a huge problem with them stepping over the secular line and into politics.

This guy's a fucking whack job. He scares me so much, that I wouldn't write in Paul if he were the nominee; I'd actually vote for Obama.

It's fucking hilarious that maybe 98% of kids listen to rap and pop.

Santorum is a fucking whack job. The guy wants to run a god damned theocracy. Yeah, let's make Gays in the military, you know, the one risking their lives away from their family and friends in basically living hell, have a harder time in the military because you want to push your god damned views into the laws of this country, while we have more important matters than ruining people's lives in the name of God...

None of this really matters, anyways. By the time the convention gets here, Paul will have more delegates than Santorum. Unfortunately, he won't have as many as Mitt... unless Santorum or Gingrich can pull a few more upsets.

You're underestimating the power of Jesus, just like the Dems did with Bush.

Not sure if this is the same article I read, but that one said the people who were for Santorum were FAR more likely not to change their mind.

Oh for sure... but here's the thing; most of the states santorum will win are caucus states, and even though he won the popular votes there, Ron Paul won most of the delegates. So it's irrelevant.
