Magic Hat #9 is a fantastic brew. Def not a coffee taste to it. Fruit taste is fairly strong but still retains its ale status.

Sierra Nevada...you a fan?

If you like IPA's their Celebration brew is very good. Mellower IPA with subtle tones of pine with it. Honestly I cannot pound IPA's but I could down that. They also have another beer that really intrigued me. It is brewed in an open air format. It is called Kellerweis I believe. You need to pour half into a glass and swirl it until the foam goes down, then you proceed to fill it to the top after. The earth tones are very prominant. Give it a try. Cheers, bud. :)

Yeah, if you like fruity beers, look towards Belgium, France and parts of England.

That SN Kellerweis is a nice beer. It's a traditional German Heffe brewed in an open fermenter called a "coolship"...although this isn't very radical, all Anchor Steam beer is brewed the same way and most traditional English breweries do the same. SN shipped their entire brewing staff to Bavaria for a few weeks...twice... because they couldn't get theirs quite right.

if you need to chug, chug Coors...it's cheaper ;)

If you guys are SN fans, you should know they're going bi-costal with production for the first time

Blech, #9. I had that during a bar crawl and I could barely force it down.

And speaking of Hoppy beers, I just made a 'pliny the elder' clone (Considered the pinnacle of IPA by various beer nerds and snobs around me) and it called for 15 oz of hops in a 5 gallon batch. I thought to myself, fuck it, put in one more ounce and you'll have A FULL POUND OF HOPS IN FIVE FUCKING GALLONS OF BEER. for anyone who doesnt know about brewing, thats....kind of insane. We'll see how it turns out.

If you're so inclined, I can get you a bottle of Pliny (I know how that stuff is coveted by East Coasters).
Although I actually prefer Russian River's "Blind Pig" which has almost an identical hop character but is only 5-6% alcohol.

It's best on tap. Never drink it from the cans. It's disgusting. Bottles are good, but tap is best.

Holy snizzbox, I might have to take you up on that. Especially after this batch gets bottled, it's always nice to have an original around with which to judge a clone.

I never said chug. I can down it in massive quantities over an extended period of time. I would never chug IPA's, 'tis to beautiful a taste to waste.

 Sweet Vermouth and Whiskey should not mix. I'm not sure if sweet vermouth and anything should.
