Significant changes took place during the offseason. They need some time to gel and build chemistry. All the injuries haven't helped.

no, but the sabres tendency of giving up leads is worrisome and been happening a very long time. i like ruff, and for now hes safe. but if the struggles continue... somethings gotta give.

as the great billy beane once said, you have 54 games to see what you have, 54 games to see if you can fix it, and 54 games to hope it worked. though, in hockey, id say its 27-28-27.

Give old man river his gold walker and send him on his way. James Patrick could get more out of these players then he could.

I still think ruff and Darcy need to be able to build the team they want under the new ownership. There is no doubt this team is hampered and flawed from the btg/Quinn days.

I understand they are playing like dog shit. But I also saw what Darcy did in one off season with no hand cuffs. I want to see what he can do with another.

To the coaching staff Im fine keeping lindy. I really am. But I wan an offensive minded asst brought in to help. Lindy. Teppo. Patrick. All defensive guys. And yes the d should be better with all that d brain power. But the power play is literally a monkey fucking a hockey puck.

But lindy still was in the locker room. Was in contact with the bench. Practice etc... So I don't totally buy that. But ok. Let's put lindy back in the box?

I'd be much more interested to see what happens with a new GM, and keeping Lindy in place.

Anyone else notice last night when Ruff was giving it to Stafford on the bench, Staff turned his head and wasn't paying attention to him? Lindy even broke out the finger wagging.

Dude means business now!

Funny how much better the same team played under a different coach last week. I guess we should fire the GM.

Staff gave him the I know I know. Then just death stare in the other direction as lindy kept at him. Send staff and Roy packIng. Move boyes. Ask Hecht to retire. And find me a center.

And just to clarify here, under Patrick they kicked the shit out of the defending champs, and had what, two comeback wins as well. Under Ruff they lose to a mid-level team at home scoring only one goal, then get shellaced against the team that elimated them last year.

Ruff may not be THE problem, but he sure as shit isn't the solution.

They're both equally accountable for the mess that takes the ice every game. Darcy - poor insight into bringing in the right group of players this team needs to contend, Lindy - failure to get the best out of them on a consistent basis. What we have in composite is a mediocre team that underachieves. When they overachieve (like late last season), it's 7th or 8th place and 1 round of playoffs. When they underachieve, it's 14-15th place. I don't see how you can fire one without the other.

A depressing time in Buffalo sports, with now a 2nd major professional team that has become irrelevant and unwatchable.

Um, the "brain power" of our D let Simmonds score two exactly the same goals back to back last night.....smart

These guys just aren't listening to Ruff. Time for a new coach. At the end of last season I was all for keeping him and letting Darcy walk. Now I'm reversing my opinion and saying that Ruff needs to be replaced with new blood but I can't complain with too much that Darcy did int he off season. The guys we got were pretty smart additions, they just haven't produced like they should have. I think the relationship between Ruff and his players has gotten to the point that they just tune him out. Even a great coach is useless if the team don't listen to him, or even resent him. Time for someone new to come in and look at the roster with fresh eyes and new approaches.
