Hodgson doesn't sound thrilled about it. I guess Kassian is, he will probably play playoffs on a good team this year.

Christ, I'm just thinking abiut a Sedin Sedin Kassian line. He can dominate physically and would rile up points.

He had just found out, but when he realizes he's behind Roy and not Henrik and Kesler, he'll be very happy.

Also, they're pegging Kassian as what the Canucks were missing in the playoffs. Do they fight in the playoffs? Am I missing something there. I think the 10 or more points Hodgson would get are worth more than Zach's 2 body checks.

They called Hodgson 5 minutes after he found out about the trade. The guy was Vancouver's best prospect so obviously he's a bit shocked at what just happened. Kassian is also shocked if you haven't noticed but also he is happy that he's going to contend for the cup. I think that Hodgson will change his tune once he speaks with the management and the rest of the team.

Also, I really doubt that Kassian will play with the Sedins. Just my opinion though.

This trade might be one to regret for years.

They're saying that Vancouver gained because they can now match Lucic with Kassian. They never said that Kassian was better than Hodgson.

That basically make him better because it can make a difference in a playoff series. YOu can't just compare point production here. You'll find a guy with Hodgson's production a lot easier than a Kassian package.

Kassian was drafted 13th overall. If his type of player was so rare then why would he go 13th overall? Also, Vancouver thinks they have matched Lucic with Kassian. Does he really? No.

Dutchy just asked the panel if each team gained from the trade and they all agreed.

I don't know Hodgson at all. Would you pick Hodgson over Kassian if there were a draft today?

Yes. We have a surplus of wingers and zero centres. Hodgson was the captain of the Canadian WJC in 2009. He was a pretty big deal back then and clearly his point production this year supports the hype.

In a hot second.

As far as centers go, he was drafted ahead of Stepan and Eberle. That should tell you what you need to know.

I hate giving up Zack but we have the worst group of centers in the NHL. This addresses a need.

I don't know, they said Hodgson is a second line center. I don't like it.

To continue the Lucic-comparisons, I would pick Lucic over Krejci every day of the week, no matter what my positional needs are.

They need center but they also go a lot smaller.

I really hope now Foligno stays in the system, if he gets traded I might have to cry.

Hard to say cause he's been stuck behind Sedin. The talk on other boards is that Buffalo made out real well here.

Added:
1st rounder (probably 23rd-25th pick)
Hodgson
Sulzer

Substracted:
Gaustad
Kassian
Gragnani
4th rounder

I'm no expert at all, but I don't like it. We were a soft team before and we got softer and smaller.

They never compared him to Lucic. They said it will be their RESPONSE to Lucic.

People on the panel are saying that Nashville sent the 4th. It contradicts what they put on the trade tracker.

Gaustad needed to go as a rental player. We got a 1st rounder in return which they said was impossible. Sure we lose size in Kassian, but we still have Kaleta, Tropp and Foligno. I'm not saying that they're better than Kassian but we still have some grit. I'm sure the offseason will present some great opportunities to fill the physicality gap.

Sabres couldn't send MAG down to the AHL. Sulzer can be sent down, so it works out for us there.

I am with you toothpick. They need to get bigger after getting rid of Gaustad but they go out and get an average size center whichthey already had.

Onething i hope they go out and get Parise and Suter in free agency.
