I'm going to disagree here. Not about him getting handled by Prust, but I think Gaustad's line has been our best line since we turned things around(at least the most dependable). I hate when Lindy overplays guys who can't score, but the other lines just ain't scoring, and these guys are keeping us in games, which allows Miller to win them for us. Kudos to RR for eating mad minutes, and Weber for really turning his game around, too.

I dunno about that one. They bring energy that's about it. Is it me or every fight Gaustad's been in this year has him going down? Ennis' line and the Pominville line are still our most consistant lines. Yes Gaustad does bring somewhat of a physical presence and good faceoff man but we got far too many holes and needs on our roster to just give him what he wants. Darcy should get rid of him. Like the guy has never in his whole NHL career got more than 36 points and not over 12 goals in one season. Guys on pace for one of his worst seasons (Points wise and goals wise).

Hey, you can see it any way ya want, but that line over achieves. Can't say that about that about the first 2? One of the few lines that has been dynamic pretty much whenever healthy and playing together this year. They are playing the toughest minutes with Regehr the last few games. Replace Goose with Adam, and that line turns to shit. Guaranteed. I'd love to get some value for him, but if we can still go for 8th with, then let's go.

Just to note, I was for giving up already and evaluating new players, but I'm not for anything in the middle. Balls or bust.

I don't get why you don't think they will. TSN reports we're interested in a few players, and that we're getting offers for Goose, Roy, and Stafford. We've been one of the teams I've been seeing so...

Just my pessimistic view of this team, and it's management, right now. There is no immediacy with them. They would rather stay the course with what they got and that just doesn't sit well with me.

Why? Because we lost Gaustad and got an offensive minded center? gragnani who had been a healthy scratch? Kassian who had been mostly in the AHL? I don't see why people think we are worse off as a team...

So Mel, you thought that the Sabres had a chance of catching 8th??? I think he's just saying that this move hasn't change the fact that they most-likely won't make it in the playoffs.

The way he worded it made it sound like he believes that because of these trades, we don't have a chance of making it or not as much of a chance, which is what I was disputing. If anything we have more of an offensive threat so I think it helps especially cause more often than not, our troubles this year have been in scoring and not finishing our chances.

and Yes. I think the Sabres have a chance of catching 8th, because they do have a chance of catching 8th. It's still possible, yea it's not going to be easy but I'm certainly not going to rule them out until they're actually out.

I just don't get any of you sometimes. This is the type of chance-deal that we've waited for as fans, being talked about as the biggest deal of the day, and yet we're still not happy with anything.

We trade Goose (a 7th round pick) for a 1st rounder, and we take a chance on a guy who had 33 points as a 3rd liner.

It's just like any other signing. Ehrhoff for example. Everyone bitched we needed a QB for the PP, Ehrhoff was that, and now that we have him, he completely blows. I mean 24 points in 51 games is just about .5 a game, pretty damn good considering how pathetic our scoring has been this year.

We have a chance to make the playoffs and have an even better future with these trades.

I miss your optimism. Matter of fact a few games ago I started to feel the same way but I really don't know now. They will definitely take over Tampa and Toronto but the Caps are a crap shoot. They are more inconsistent that the Sabres so it's still a posibility. I don't see the Jets crapping the bed

:) guess it's just in my mold I guess as a hockey fan. There have been many times where my heart has wanted to stop believing, but I just couldn't. Especially knowing last year that the Sabres achieved a similar feat in the last 20 games to make the playoffs. I agree with you onwhat you said about the Jets, but even if they don't shit the bed, if the Sabres win enough, they could still beat them out. With the Jets losing last night, we are 6 points behind with 3 games in hand so depending on how these next few games go, this race could get tighter and tighter. We'll just have to wait and see :)

Just wanted to post this to eat my own words here. Whether or not Buffalo makes it, they clearly did have a chance to. There was a way and I was completetly wrong about their chances. Now let's hope I was wrong about the result too.
