His upper/lower body ratio looks weird though. His legs look really short. That's probably why he isn't the smoothest skater.

lol, the Canucks fans referred to it as "hank hill legs".

One summer of working out with Gerbe and he'll never get knocked off the puck, and he'll skate like a maniac.

He already has workout partners. Stamkos and Gary Roberts. Thanx anyways.

Hank Hill was the star RB of a Texas state champion football team. Hank Hill's legs would be okay, but not Hank Hill's ass (diminished gluteal symdrome).

OK, gotta correct myself. I believe Arlen played in the championship game and lost because Hank's knees went out. So maybe Hank Hill legs are a bad thing.

King of the Hill is one of the most underrated shows of all time. It's the Cody Hodgson of cartoons.

So watching him last night, my first impression is that we got a great hockey player.

Watching his interviews leading up to the game, he seemed kind of pissed/irritated/upset that he was in Buffalo, and that really bothered me. In his postgame interview, his mood seemed to change a little bit, and he was happy that he got 50% more ice time than he did in Vancouver and was playing with skilled players.

We definitely got a great hockey player. This kid has some serious potential. I liked his game quite a bit.

I didn't sense that he had any hard feelings about being in Buffalo by his interviews. Maybe slightly bummed that he was moved from a team that could win the cup this year, but that's to be expected from a hungry, competitive hockey player.

Side note; I liked our team as a whole last night. They did a really solid job of not taking any of the Ducks' shit.

PSP - I suppose I could see that being the driving force behind his emotion too. I agree - we looked GOOD.

I don't know why I picked up on this earlier but the kid is from Toronto. Having been a young 22 year old away from home in the military I remember how homesick I got. Maybe this is a bit better chance for him than we thought.

He mentioned in his phone interview on TSN right after the trade was announced that it was good that his family would be close and they could come to the games more.

As far as his play last night, I thought he looked good once I got adjusted to the fact that it wasn't Tim Connolly wearing 19 for us  . He played much tougher than I expected in terms of hits and going to the front of the net. IMO, he plays tougher than Kassian ever did. I also think he would've had at least one point if Stafford could hit the freaking net. He had good speed bursts, very good puck control and a real good sense in terms of putting himself in a good position on the ice. Overall, I'm extremely happy with our line-up...this team played very well against the hottest team in the NHL last night.

On a side note, Leino looked a lot more comfortable at center last night than he ever did before.

I dont know if you guys caught this, but I swear he would have had a goal if his stick hadnt broken. He went to the bench to get a new one, while at the same time someone put a pass across the crease he probably would have been waiting for had he had a stick, basically had an open net for a second. he'd been in that area and was still on screen skating to the bench when that pass was made. Would have been nice.

Yup. Saw that. 90% sure that would have been a goal.

Having only heard the game on WGR last night, I swear all I remember from it is Hodgson, Hodgson, Hodgson! It's as if he was always on the ice, always doing something. I don't remember hearing Vanek's name but once or twice. And do you think that Roy is starting to sweat a bit? If not, he should be...

Roy looked good last night, him and Vanek played great together.

I realize it's only one game, but I'm pretty sure that he's the exact opposite of that. (I know you're being sarcastic).

Yup, dripping with sarcasm. I should remember it was only one game, but it was one of their best (and "toughest") games of the year and Hodgson was the best Sabre not wearing 30.
