It sounds like you're really happy, but also like you're really opening yourself up to get hurt. Be careful :)

This weekend, I'm starting a new project; Recycling a Vanek retro/3rd into a Andreychuk retro. I still have a Rivet 3rd that has been beat to shit, but the numbers are still in epic condition so I'll just need to make the letters for the name plate.

Haven't had to make a name plate that long in a while, might need extra coffee for this one..

Vanek has officially been stripped from the jersey. Letters are cut out and waiting to be sewn to a new name plate tomorrow morning. I'd do it tonight, but I've had a few pops and don't feel like sewing my thumbs to the jersey  I have the CCM and NHL logos ready to sew on as well. Might even do the double elbows in it if I have the time.

Just need to add either a 20th, NHL 75th anniversary or Stanley Cup 100th anniversary patch to this sucker and I'll be good to go.

Well I'm doing two cornhole boards, one home one away colors and I was thinking about putting my name on them. Decided not to but I made a work bench for my neighbor and we're sanding it tomorrow and then painting it in Sabres colors. Blue mostly but with gold and grey stripes on the legs and white edging. He ordered a 21"x24" decal for the center of the top of it and some B's and a captain C too. I found the Sabres font online so I'm going to print his last name out in the right size and then transfer it with the old charcoal and trace method. We're getting the official Sabres paint from home Depot and I'm going to paint them in gold. I have a pretty good idea now of how to do everything with contact paper and painter's tape.

on the plus side, you should have a present at your house to cheer you up later!

Tried talking with some of my neighbors today. I find I have very little to talk about with 60 year old lawyers who wear polo shirts while doing yard work and make five times as much as me. They tried being nice but it's pretty obvious they just see me as a tattooed punk. I feel super out of place in this neighborhood. Wish I could just move to the country and have privacy and space.

i like my job. Picture framing is fun and i enjoy it...but it fucking blows that the owner is dumb ass who thinks that word of mouth is the only type of advertising that we need. This plus the fact that we moved and he didnt send out any fliers or anything saying "we didnt close" is killing our business and making it so my hours get cut even more.

stupid fucker

Sounds like you need a marketing expert. Shall I send my resume ;)

But seriously, people who just view marketing as an expense are the ones that usually don't see results. If you aren't willing to put the money in for some legit marketing and advertising, it's gonna be tough.

As someone with almost full sleeves, I can totally relate to this, man.

If they can't look past the ink which may be in your skin, they aren't worth getting to know. This is just based on my own experiences. Because someone decides to do with their body as they choose, it does not define what some may view them as. One of the heads of the Apple contract we used to have at our center, had full sleeves, facial piercings; you name it. And she was the most professional person I've yet to meet in our company. VERY powerful too; We're talking 2 seats from Steve Jobs powerful. And still with the company.

If they are being fake for the sake of saving face, I say sport your shit more than usual and add to it. Fuck them all.

i wouldnt really recommend anyone work for the owner directly. besides, you're nice to be put through that. :)

within the company we have a vinyl sign design "company" that produces vinyl banners and window decals for people (business or individual). 4 years ago he actually hired someone to make it profitable. she quit after 3 months. it ended up being her saying "i need $$$ to make this profitable" and David (owner) saying "make it profitable and ill give you $$$." after she left, the sign design stuff fell onto me (being the only other person who could figure out the sign program). i was never in charge of making it profitable at all, but i became the unofficial "lead sign designer" for the company.

the thing is, I could do a good chunk of his marketing for him from a design standpoint like mailers, fliers, updating the god awful website, etc and ive told him that but he 1-wont pay for it, 2-doesnt like an idea if it isnt his, 3-still has the same business plan he used in the 70's.
