i don't think either team has a defense, or a goalie.
6-4 Pens

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

A couple weeks ago, the prospect of making the playoffs, and facing the Rangers seemed like an excellent opportunity. If we make it (and I think we will) the prospect of playing Pittsburgh seems a lot more daunting. Pens look to be the best team in hockey right now.

Games to keep an eye on tomorrow

Washington @ Philly - A Washington regulation loss here puts the Sabres in full control of their own destiny, with a game against Washington yet to be played

Boston @ San Jose - A man can dream, can't he?

I just want the Sabres to (hypothetically) play any team but Pittsburgh. Every other team has their weaknesses, but Pittsburgh is near unstoppable right now.

The Panthers/Hurricanes game was a really good one. Glad I lucked into tickets for it, Carolina helped us out tonight.

ya know, i think the canes hurt us. i want the panthers to win, take over 2nd place, and the sabres play the panthers first round

That would be a tall order I think.

We're fighting for 8th and I doubt we can get 7th. Unless Ottawa falls out.

we are four points behind ottawa. that's it.

Ottawa play in the next five games
Habs
Pittsburgh
Winnipeg(in winnipeg)
Philly
Islanders

They should lose at LEAST against pittsburgh and philly, and im guessing the jets are gonan beat em too, so thats 2-3 in those ffive games. they lose those, and it is the sabres place to take.
The also have a game against boston too

And we play,

Rangers
Minnesota
Washington
Pittsburgh
Toronto
Toronto
Philly
Boston

Against the remaining teams, especially the ones ahead of us, we are 6-7-4. 8-9-4 against our remaining foes this year, except Minny since we haven't played them this year.

We haven't won against the Rags 0-1-2, We are 2-1-0 on Pittsburgh, 2-3-1 against Boston, 2-1-0 on Washington, 0-1-2 With Philly, and 2-2-0 on Toronto.

Not exactly promising to us and another reason I think we only have a shot at 8th.

You also got to realize that we're playing a lot better hockey than we did for most of the season. We have beaten top teams since the All-Star break, and we certainly have the ability to beat them again if this team wants it bad enough. Every game is essentially a playoff game now. Who cares about our previous records against teams. It's in the past. We just need to win.

Also editing to add that the Rangers have now clinched a playoff spot. They also haven't been as hot as they were when we last played them, and even still it was a CLOSE game. Not to say they won't play as hard, cause they will, but they're also not going to want to risk guys getting injured as much so Sabres just gotta come out hard. I also think by the time we play the Pens, they will have clinched, so same kind of scenario. We just gotta keep playing do or die hockey.

I know, but to say we've got it golden is stupid. We are in no way guaranteed any spot.

Even when we've played well we can't seem to beat the teams ahead of us, except Pittsburgh this year.

Nobody ever said our chances were golden and we were guaranteed a spot. Yea it's going to be a grind, but we certainly have a chance and if we do make it in, we will have deserved it and we'd be going into the playoffs on a good streak.
