Great, now the other bruiser is totally unnecessary because Ott is a bruiser who can play.

I don't like this move unless we see a new, better center here in the next day or two.

Derek Roy needed to go and Ott is a player that will add toughness to the lineup with some scoring. Pardy is a mediocre defenseman but getting rid of Roy is a good thing. He's too small and gets knocked off the puck to easily and takes ton's of stupid penalty's. I'm glad to see Roy go. I still see another move coming because we have way too many defenseman now.

I don't understand these fans saying we lost this trade or Ott is going to put up numbers like Roy. Let's face it folks not many teams want a 5'9" center that takes a ton of stupid penalties and passes up scoring chances instead of shooting. I use to like Roy but when Roy went down the team actually played better. Then u throw in the Lucic incident last year and this core group with the rest of the team were a bunch of pansies. Ott is a player that is a hitter, good face off man and he can chip in 35-40 points a year, plus he will go to war for his teammates. Who on last years squad was going to do tha? U can't have a team filled with too many undersized players just because they are skilled. Plus with Montreal loading up with size and grinders u have to do something.

I'm not mad that Roy is gone but I hoped for a better return. Roy is a 70-80 point second line center if he is healthy. Apparently Ott is a 35-40 point grinder, so I can't really like this deal.

Nobody liked Roy last season because he sucked but I want to remember everybody that 2 seasons ago we loved Roy till he got injured.
Now we don't have any experienced skilled centers. Ennis and Hodgson haven't played a full season as a top 2 center in this league. Grigorenko and Girg(can't spell it)son probably aren't ready yet.

The center position looks good mid to long term, but if they don't make another move I don't like our lineup for next season.

Seeing as Pardy=Shaone Morrisonn, he is probably going to the AHL, so we kind of gained cap space.

Seriously, it's a miracle we got anything for Derek Roy. I never subscribed to the theory of Roy not having any value, but if he did have value, he would have been traded a year ago, or at the trade deadline.

I think the only way we get more for Roy is if he played well this season and we dealt him at the deadline. I didn't want to see the Vanek - Roy - Pomminville line ever again. I wonder what Tommy and Jason think about that...seemed to me that they clicked with Adam until we started out 10-5 and Ruff felt that Adam wasn't good in his own end. Still don't get the facination Ruff has for trying to make every center on the roster into Jochen Hecht.

If Roy showed up on the stat sheet in the playoffs maybe he'd still be here. I wish him well, but I won't miss that our PP time gets shortened when Roy tries to skate through all 4 PKers and coughs up the puck.

If he kept Gaustad, we'd be paying him about what we're paying Ott. Which would you rather have...keep in mind Ott wins just over 50% of his faceoffs.

Really, Paul Gaustad chips in about 40 points a year AND over 250 hits? In what universe? Ott is not Paul Gaustad. This year they make within $500K of each other...whcih would you rather pay? No one's really afraid to rile Paul Gaustad.
