Bettman is the voice of the owners. He's been through 2 other lockouts and looks likely to be heading through his third. I have no sympathy for that guy.

I say it again, it's the owner's that are demanding the players take less, not Bettman, how is he honestly the bad guy here?

He still only works for the owners. It's not his fault the owners are demanding more money from the players.

Bettman does not run the NHL, the 30 owners run it. They are the ones who actually run the league. Without them there wouldn't be a Bettman.

Bettman will make 7 million a year regardless of how much money the players make. I don't think having the owners make more money is going to affect Bettman.

Bettman is not the reason there might be a lockout, get your head out of your ass and actually look to the root of the problem. The NHL owners.

Prove to me otherwise that Bettman doesn't actually think what he is suggesting is the correct choice or GTFO. Because he's the one making the deals, not the owners. He creates the deals, he thinks the deals are whats best for the league.

Umm, when the owners say they want more than 43% that they are getting, that money doesn't go to Bettman, I don't get why you don't see this.

The owners get want more money, they in turn tell Bettman what they want, he negotiates this.

You clearly think Bettman is gonna get more money if the owners get more money instead of the players. If he has a salary, it's not gonna change whether or not the players receive more or less and same with the owners.

And everything you read about this says "NHL Owners" proposals not, Gary Bettman's Proposal.

If we want to get technical about it, the NHL has owned the Coyotes for the past few seasons. That's good enough in my book to make Bettman an owner.

Not the point, though. Bettman, whether he likes it or not, is the head of the entire front. He has the power to tell the owners that they're in way over their heads, but he doesn't, because he, along with owners, wants more money to be on the owners' side.

Plus, I'd like to point out that I never said Bettman would tell the owners to take a hike. There's a difference between that and being helpful in the legalities of certain things, which he isn't being at all.

You're blatantly missing the point, and it's making you sound like an ass.

We're not telling you Bettman is the only guy doing work, we're simply saying that Bettman is a little more than the voice of the owners. He's the god damn commissioner of the NHL. It's like saying Donald Fehr is simply the voice of the players. That isn't true. Fehr is to Bettman as the players are to the owners. Bettman is the one trying to get back every penny the owners want, and Fehr is the one trying to keep that pool of money for the players. They're the only ones that can translate any of that into any form of a contract. Some of these owners might have background lawyer careers, but none that I know of.

Not saying the owners don't have a say. But Bettman AGREES with these proposals 100%. Which still makes him an asshole.
