Quote:
This Week1 Last Week6 Buffalo Sabres 6-1-1

Starting goaltender Ryan Miller has yet to lose in regulation and his strong play backstops a Sabres team that may not be finishing enough, but is carrying the play, outshooting the opposition by double figures five times already.
Key Injuries: None.

I don't think we're there yet at all, but it sure is nice to see anyway.

True. We've still got some work to do. But the potential is definitely there.

I'm more in line with ESPN putting the Sabres at #3 than TSN putting them at #1, but TSN is a more-reputed hockey-centric sports network, so...

Either way, I'd just say they're top 5 and call it that.

Take power ranking with a grain of salt. They are practically worthless and are used for Fantasy hockey mostly. They don't mean much at all really. It goes with trends week to week of who is hot, and who is falling on their face.

Is it nice to be #1, sure..but it really doesn't matter at all.

Well, Shootout, if the Sabres are consistently toward the top all season, that would mean they've been red-hot consistently, yes? And that's what we want is consistency :D

Indeed. They're only there to drive traffic and discussion.

But seeing the boys at #1 is pretty sweet nonetheless.

Colorado and Pittsburgh are both 7 games over .500, Buffalo is 5 games over. If the Sabres win their next two games, then maybe we can start talking about them as the #1 team. Until then, I'm satisfied with saying "they're playing well".

Well, at least we're finally getting some recognition, as irrelevant as these rankings may be...

Please, please tell me you are an old Winnipeg Jet fan, because otherwise your signature is a declaration of war. :violence-ak47:

haha NY Jets rot, if that's who you're referring to. Being from Winnipeg, it's just a little shout out to the dearly departed WPG Jets. They played the Sabres in the first NHL game a went to, so that's why I started cheering for B-Lo after they took off to PHX.

Unfortunately for me , my NFL allegiance lies with the lowly Rams...

yup, I sure can pick 'em

That's pretty surprising...wonder how ESPN will rank us?

But the difference with us and them is 3 games.

We've played 8 games and both of them have probably played 11 games.

Atlanta, Buffalo, Toronto are the only teams in the league to have only played 8 games so far this season.

We lead our division with 13 points and we've played 2-3 less than Ottawa and Boston.

Our point% is the highest in the league still.

Flavor of the week. When they move teams up and down as far, and as frequently as they do , it means nothing.

Well except to those who take stock in this type of thing............ ;)
