Oh I agree completely. I'm just saying where the speculation is coming from.

Miller is, and always has been, much better than Thomas. And we can all agree with that :)

Thomas; much like Denis Lacroix in the Casino commercials, has apparently had his horseshoe(s) fall out as well......

I'm sure Ryan is playing with a little more incentive to get that starting nod.

I wouldn't doubt that, but...I'd also say he's playing like this because he may be one of the more fiery, competitive players we've ever watched.

Plus Miller might finally be hitting his superstar-dom stride... haha so he may finally just becoming the elite goalie we always needed/wanted.

Ha, the brownies are not going to be a juggernaut this year. Too bad they will get the #1 Picks for the next 2 years.

Well, the speculation that Thomas would get it over Miller began before this season started. During an off-season when Thomas was, and still is, the reigning Vezina winner.

Indeed, but that is because he had a good season and WAS the Veznina winner. I still believe Miller was and still is better, I mean the last two seasons miller has had to work with a sub par 'D' and he still preformed well, not perfect, but still well. Thomas, if he has no defense he is just not good at all.

I feel a lot of people here are allowing their bias to sell Thomas short. He is a good goalie, defense or no defense. I think Miller's stats with a subpar defense have been pretty mediocre as well. Now that isn't to say that I don't think Miller is better, or thet I don't think he should get the starting nod. He is the better of the two players, but Tim Thomas isn't anything less than an extremely capable goalie.

He's definitely a capable goalie...he is in the NHL afterall. His technique is sloppy, and obviously not in the Hasek kind of way. Some of the goals he's allowed this season, with an average team effort in front of him, have been embarrasing. Rask has made three starts so far in an effort to get more from that position.

Miller said in an article a few days ago in the Buffalo News what I've said before - goalie stats are very much dependant on the team's play in front of them. Thomas is an average NHL goalie but played on a very good team the last two seasons, and got all kinds of over blown credit. Miller is one of the top 3-4 goalies in the league, showed it between 05-07, and then suffered from an average team from 07-09. His stats were still pretty good the last two seasons despite all the prime scoring chances against, but he was ignored or forgotten in the credit and reputation department.

I'd like to see Miller get his due credit, and if he isn't recognized as the best goalie in the league, it would be nice if a better goalie (maybe Lundqvist, Luongo, Fleury, Broduer) actually got the recognition instead of Thomas.

I admire Thomas, for the long, long road he's travelled and the experience he has.

At this point in his career, I would think that it is a joy for him to be playing at the NHL level, after so long and circuitous a journey.

You can see how loose he is. How he enjoys himself out there. And it translates into a confident style that, though it may seem a bit reckless, is quite effective - provided he has a defensive presence to compensate for his shortcomings.

He's a very cool customer, and not too easily rattled. A very likeable "underdog" sort of player. And very competitive.

Thomas is a nice. I wish Thomas the best. Thomas is a cool dude and nice guy. Thomas is the reigning Vezina Trophy winner. Thomas is one of the nicest guys. Thomas is a really great goalie. Did I mention he was a nice guy.

I hope this guy fails miserably this season. I hope he has the worst season of his career, not just this season, but every season. Why you ask?
He is in our division, I don't care about the Olympics, nothing in my lifetime will ever top 1980. My priority is to see a cup in Buffalo before I pass on. Thomas needs to have a GAA. of 5.35 this season.
Just thinking of my Sabres.

Ill be looking for Myers to skate around Chara to beat Thomas for the game winning goal.. That would be fuckin awesome!!!

But looking at Miller's stats, how many shots were taken on him, and how terrible the defense has been in front of him. I wouldn't want anyone else than him.

This year he is playing great, last year he played great. The team is playing great and if this team keeps it up, it should easily win the division. And Miller should be starting for team USA this year.
