I'd like to take a quick poll about people's experiences with the attempted HD broadcast last night.

I know a great many folks did not get the game in HD as promised, and others had the NJD audio the entire time, not RJ and HN as promised.

I would like to know the following:
1. Was HD picture available to you for the game?
2. Were you able to use the SAP function to get Rick and Harry's call of the game?
3. Who is your cable/sat provider?

My intent is to collate some data and send to Alan Pergament (Media critic/reporter) from the Buffalo News, and anyone at the Sabres that I can track down an email for. From everything that was said in the GDT last night, it sounded like this didn't work for anybody.

Thanks!!

1. HD unavailable.
2. SAP function not available on that channel. Audio was Rick and Harry during play, NJD during intermissions.
3. DirecTV

1. HD unavailable.
2. What's the SAP function? I heard Doc Emrick the whole time.
3. Time Warner at my parent's house and Dish Network at my own. Caught the game half and half.

Sad thing is we're going to have to put up with this again Saturday night when we play the Islanders I bet.

HD available
NJ announcers until each period started then it switched by itself to RJ & Mr. Senile
TWC - game on channel 700

I don't know if it was mentioned in the GDT as I wasn't there, but I heard all NJ, Isles, and Rags games would be available in HD now. I think it was specific to MSG though, not CI or something like that.

That's pretty much correct. Those (should be) available because MSG is already doing the production of those games anyhow.

That is also why the alternate audio feeds have to be used. They're basically just sending the home team (NJD/NYI/NYR) HD feeds that they're already doing off to Buffalo, and putting the Sabres production audio on that alternate channel.

Pretty much a hack job.

1. No HD
2. No
3. Time Warner

*Center Ice

Center Ice had 2 feeds last night. The first was the NJ feed in SD. The second was supposed to be the Buffalo feed in SD but it was only WNY commercials and the center ice "we'll be right back" screen for the actual game / intermissions. No RJ to be heard anywhere.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Time Warner - Channel 700

I would like to point out though, it was NJD intermission, but Rick & Harry were the audio, so all in all the experince was Good. I only watch the intermission report for the scores anyways.
Is it just me, or did the NJD game coverage staff try and make the Devils look good no matter what the score was? They were praising Brodouche every intermission and they kept on plugging away at how the injuries have hampered the Devils efforts so far.
I for one was delighted at the absence of any talent that may be harmful to a Buffalo Victory.
Oh, and hell ya, I think some of those guys should retire, I've seen hobo's on Delaware that looked younger :o

No HD
No RJ
Time Warner

TWC told me last night that Syracuse isn't supposed to get the RJ broadcast. No idea if this is correct since I've never had anything but on MSG.

During the first intermission they were shitting on the Devils. I don't think they said 1 good thing about that period.

It almost made me miss the game completely, and did cause me to miss the 1st period. I scheduled my DVR to record the away (Buffalo) broadcast on Center Ice, because the listings said it was offering both broadcasts. Luckily, I started trying to watch about an hour after the start, and my recording was just the Center Ice Screen that said "we'll be right back". So I stopped recording that and turned on the new Jersey broadcast and watched the rest of the game live.

I'm pretty sure that this HD broadcast was the reason that I couldn't get the Buffalo broadcast, since my Center ice package puts all its HD broadcats on one channel, and that channel already had a game scheduled, Toronto/Dallas.

So basically it sucked moose.

After just watching (most of) the MSG replay at noon, I thought the NJ announcers gave Buffalo a ton of praise. Nearly the entire 2nd period and the last several minutes of the third, they did nothing but talk about Miller, Myers, and how good the Sabres are.

NOT only was there no HD/RJ...but center ice (the whole of it) was 'unavailable' for the first two periods. When it DID finally come on, it was the NJ crew. I had to stab like...39 kittens to calm down.

I only saw the third period, but it did seem to me like the NJ announcers were giving mad love to the sabres, talking about how this year was clearly "different" than previous years where they started strong and then fucked it all up. And that they could not imagine the sabres not making the playoffs.

Emerick was on fire in the second period. Of the decision about whether or not to send Myers back to juniors, he said "seems like a pretty easy decision to me". of the slug jerseys, he said "Donald Trump is a nice guy, but I don't need to see his hairdo on a hockey jersey".

I dont have an HD tv so it didn't effect me.
I got Doc Emerk and Chico the whole time
Time Warner Cable channel 28 MSG+ (Binghamton)

All sabre games are broadcasted in Binghamton on either MSG or MSG+.
They take precedence over Rangers, Islanders and Devils games. If another team is supposed to be on when the Sabres play, they will show the Buffalo Broadcast with all the normal buffalo commercials.
