So we can't see the final bill online and we can't even attend the ceremony announcing it.
Suck it citizen. Well, pay your taxes and then suck it.

The ceremony was closed to the public...and to Republicans...but open to Union members.

I'll do my own summary thanks. That wasn't a summary, it was propaganda.
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/ ... 102909.pdf <-- longer 10 page version with more of the nasty bits exposed

1. This bill doesn't cover everyone
2. They start taxing the middle class right away but the large outlay of benefits doesn't kick in until 2013 <-- conveniently after the 2012 elections
3. There's a mandate to individuals to buy insurance punishable by a fine equal to 2.5% of your income or jail time
4. There's a major monetary incentive for all small businesses to drop private health insurance and force their employees onto the public option (ie. the fine is cheaper than providing insurance)
5. An additional 5.4% federal tax increase on anyone making over $500k (yikes)
6. An $8 billion pay-off to Medicare Doctors from 2012 to 2013 to shut them up
7. Up to $1,000,000 in yearly fines for hospitals or medical providers that don't report their financial relationships with doctors to HHS
8. $100 million allocated a year to pay off fraud snitches
9. Directs the Secretary of HHS to reduce Medicaid payments to States by a total of $10 billion (no mention of where to reduce costs, just a mandate to do it.)
10. Raises the deficit ceiling by a total of $10.35 billion from FY 2011 through 2019 (because There's no way we can do this without borrowing more money)
11. Removes the anti-trust exemption for the insurance industry to speed up their demise. They won't be able to compete with a public plan that's subsidized with taxes.

Seems like a whole lot of mandates with some fuzzy math to put lipstick on the pig to me and it doesn't actually solve the problems it's trying to solve.

Bang up job US house of representatives...this is why we don't let you play with nice things and you have a 21% approval rating.

How do you spell C-O-C-K-S-U-C-K-E-R. As a Vice President of a small business, as well as being a single white professional male, I am thoroughly fucked by this administration.

I think Bad Religion summed my thoughts up pretty well so I'll let them say it for me:

"I'm so tired of all the fucked up minds
of all the terrorist religions and their bullshit lines,
of all the hand-me-downs from all industrial crimes
and the weeping mothers and those who are led so blind,
from the plastic protests and the hands of time
and the pursuit of mirth and all hating kind"

That goes for everything. I'm a patriot first and foremost. My Government, every bobble headed party member from the wide swinging right to the left can line up and take a pick from either sucking my left...or if they prefer, my right ball. (the world's religious leaders and followers need not feel left out...they too can suckle on one) And that goes for everyone of you bobble headed 'yes' men too...or 'no' men depending on which side's soap box has caught your fancy most. To you I say good day Sir!

Maybe I'm a moron, okay, almost definitely a moron, but what does this quote have to do with the topic of the thread?

Trust me ETC, you will never understand what I meant. Let's just drink since it's the only thing aside from chicken wings, beer and thongs that we will ever both agree on.

Oh I know, I wasn't pointing that at you...just the person who wrote it.
The full links were on that page though.

That summary was like a pitch from a used car salesman that didn't realize you already read the Carfax report ;)

Not true, we agree on politics, too! ;)

BTW, if agree on beer, babes, wings, and hockey that covers about 99% of what matters in life. We're BFFs!

I would not expect you to be this upset. I'll buy the gas next time we go fishing if it makes ya sleep easier. :D

I stay clear of this for the most part, but at least this legislation may be the landmark resolution this country needs. One landmark removes a lot of black eyes. If it fails, then hopefully we can still readjust in time. In a capitalist society, you'd think someone would always be ready to jump right in if it didn't work(the people who ran it before).

Once you let the government in, they never leave. That's why the liberal strategy is simply to "get a foot in the door". Because progress will always be made at taking over more of this nation.

All right then, show me some major government programs that failed... and then were eliminated.

Ham is right about this.

The fact that this bill only raises the number of insured in the country from 82% to 94% should make it obvious that the main goal is a power grab and not providing healthcare to all.

Oh no, I agree with you. I think that people are selfish at the core looking after, if not just themselves, then themselves and those close to them. I favor less government. The more people looking out for their own interests invovled, who are supposed to be looking our for the interests of all of us, the more waste and corruption you get.

I didn't like your disdainful use of the term liberal.

Meh, I put up with the last 8 years being called a neo-con as if it were synonymous with baby-killer.

Understandable. I don't agree with that either. I think both sides want to present the other as evil in order to make their own stance look better. Everyone wants to be the good guy, no one probably is.

We need better terminology. Liberal and conservative should describe what most people are, moderates with a slightly different take on various issues.

I put forth

nonservative (nutty conservative) - to describe Whitesboro Baptist Church Guy

criberal (crazy liberal) - to describe The US Government Orchestrated 9/11 Guy
