Interesting you mention this. It was the focus of Stewart's piece on the echo chamber. Drudge was 7 months late on 'breaking' that one. :)

7 months after it actually happened, or 7 month after a news outlet knew about it?

I'm willing to bet no one knew about it at all. Unless Stewart is implying he sat on that goldmine of a story for some reason I wouldn't understand.

Stewart didn't bring up Drudge, just covered the Fox handling of it.

Basically his points were:

- The 'singing kids' event happened 7 months before it was picked up in the media. At the time, what the teachers planned, including the lyrics to the songs, were sent home to the parents of the kids participating for approval. Not one parent objected. (FYI : I am on record that even with parental approval I didn't like that the teachers did that.)

- When it as picked up by Fox, it was mentioned on one of their daytime news shows.
- That night, Beck / Hannity / O'Riley went on rants about 'indoctrination' and were very loud against this.
- When the news shows got back to it, they started reporting on the 'outrages' over the incident....except that the outrage was coming from Fox's opinion shows.

No matter what side you're on, Fox has been known for this for years. The opinions of their commentators get spun back into the news reports as legitimate stories. They're by no means the only network that does this, I will offer no argument to the contrary. But, they're loudest about doing it, and get the most righteous when they get called on it.

Oh, well then I don't think the 7 months has much to do with it.
That video clip was buried on someones personal web site (or the school district site or something like that, I can't remember) in obscurity for 7 months until someone saw it, freaked out, copied it and put it on youtube....that's when it hit Drudge.

As soon as it hit, the original was pulled down.

EDIT: you're spot on with the whole "echo chamber" thing though...

Okay, maybe I wasn't really clear. I don't think prohibition was a program. You know, like entitlements.

SOCIAL SECURITY
The numbers don't lie here. Either we inject an estimated 37 million new citizens to the tax roll (at a current averaging per person rate of 29.4%) or the program will force the raising of further income from sources outside its own program in order to remain solvent.
An estimated date for peak input on this program is 2017, but the moment it was initiated it was doomed to failure for 2 specific reasons.

1. It fails to apply personal responsibility to the populas at large by creating an unproportioned tax (yes tax) to the working class of this nation.

2. It did not take into account, and most likely never will, for the natural events of population expansion and contraction that will innevitably occur in every nations long history.

These are the 2 main reasons, but their are other, more transparent programs in government at every level. Quite simply, you cannot continue to borrow against tomorrow to pay for today.
