I'll contribute my freaky story.

I was at my friends house last summer and we were sitting on his patio in his backyard. We were both sitting in lawn chairs facing each other, me facing his house, and him facing the backyard. There was a light on and it emitted a yellow glow, lighting up half of the backyard. We were arguing about cars from what I remember, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a bright white light flash. Since I suffer from migraines I occasionally will see spots so I dismissed it for the moment. When we stopped arguing and were sitting there I asked him if he saw the light as well or if it was just me getting a migraine. He claimed he saw it too, so I got up in my chair and turned around facing his backyard. There was a small tree in the back left corner of his fenced in yard where we both thought we saw it. I walked over and looked but found nothing. Being a clear night I checked the sky as well thinking it could be some Airplane or UFO but found nothing. We both thought it was odd, but I sat back down and we continued talking. Soon afterwards we were both looking down at the ground trying to get the mosquitoes off our legs, and noticed a clear white light shine down on us and after two seconds suddenly turned off. It was as if a flashlight was shining down from directly above us then quickly turn off. We looked up but nothing was above us. The light that was illuminating the backyard was yellow and was behind my friend casting my shadow behind me. When the white light illuminated us a shadow of me was cast as if the light source was directly above me. At this point my friend and I are starting to wonder what the hell is going on. I walk around his yard again looking but find nothing and sit back down. We begin talking for about five minutes when the light shines down on us again, turning on, then off, on, and finally off. We look up, and still nothing. At this point I am freaked out and we both go inside.

We have both tried to find out what this light could have been. There were no helicopters in the sky shining lights down, or any aircraft for that matter. There was no way it was someone on his roof, we would have heard them, and the first time we saw the light by the tree disproves this idea. The light that illuminates his backyard gives off a yellowish glow, and not a clear white light. Also the light source was coming from above my with the shadow cast at my feet, the house light was behind my friend casting my shadow behind me.

I don't know if it was a ghost, UFO, or what it was, but it freaked me out and I left that night with a creepy feeling I could not shake.

Happy Halloween!

Does anyone have any? I saw the movie Paranormal Activity a few nights ago and it really creeped me out. Mostly because I believe in ghosts or spirits or whatever you want to call them...and the movie seemed to be a pretty genuine depiction of what would happen if your house really was haunted (it's a Blair Witch/documentary type of movie).

So in light of just seeing that movie and with Halloween approaching us, it got me thinking about real life ghost stories and if anyone has any. I've got one...

About 4 years ago my friends and I were walking to this really old cemetery near my house around dusk time. When we got there, about 50 feet from us was a figure walking across the cemetery. It was about 7 feet tall and extremely thin...sort of like a walking tree branch or something (but it had limbs). It was translucent, you could see through it but it was almost glowing. It was walking very slowly and it didn't notice us, but we all seemed to notice it at the same time. We just stopped dead in our tracks and said, "What is that?" then without thinking we all just reacted and turned around and ran away. Looking back, I wish I would have stayed for a little bit to observe it more...

I live in the village of Orchard Park which has a lot of history to it dating back to the Quakers and the underground railroad, so every now and then I hear a good ghost story or someone talking about their house being haunted. The house across the street from me used to be an insane asylum in the 1800s...I've been in there a few times but never at night, I could only imagine what it must be like at night...

So, does anyone have any good stories?

Fly, I was in Utah a couple years ago and the TV program A Haunting was at the house right nextdoor to the house we had rented filming a true story demonic haunting program, it freaked out me and my roommates so much, we rented a place across town lol

Haha nice stories...who knows if ghosts/spirits are real or not, but I think there's something out there. I love hearing about people's experiences.

I don't believe in th paranormal, per se. However, an odd incident occured last year with me at work. My maintenance man was telling me he heard someone say goodnight to him when he was closing, though he was the only one there. I asked him if it sounded like an older guy. He said it did.

I asked him if he knew who Ralph was. (Ralph was an older fellow who dropped deqad from a massive heart attack while working at the building.) He said he had not, and there is no reason he would have, as it occurred a few years prior.

Turns out it was in the area where Ralph spent a lot of his time, also, which again; he couldn't have known.

I have to admit, my heart beats faster when I am in that area later at night, and alone in the building....
