This place has such a double standard it's mind boggling. Wasn't everyone attacking Skyline in a different thread about generalizing fans, because they were Buffalo fans? The Leafs fans that come to Buffalo to heckle do not reflect the fanbase. Mike is saying give them credit for staying proud of their crap team. Not the ones who pour beer, or steal nachos [that happened to me and it sucked; nachos are expensive], but the ones that respectfully come in with pride for their team.

Everyone really needs to lighten up. For realz.

Yes they were.

That's why I'm always careful to say the Leafs fans that come to the HSBC Arena...and the "majority" of Leafs fans. Because I've met some really decent Leafs fans and I know some too. But I've been going to Leafs-Sabres games for years, and it's a fact that the MAJORITY of the fans that come to the HSBC Arena are terrible and they harrass Sabres fans. It's not even the typical drunk banter that you and Phil are referring to. I'm talking about being followed to my car and being harrassed because I'm American or because I'm from Buffalo. It's not a rare occurence either. It's happened to me several times and I see it happen every game. I can't speak for every Leafs fan but I can speak for the fans that come to my town and trash my city/country. I've also seen a lot of ugly things up at the ACC too but I'm not going to get into that argument.

If it makes anyone feel any better, I open hand slapped a Leaf's fan across the face last night.

Drunk banter be damned...I had a pissed off Leafs fan throw three cups of beer on me in one period. And that's not all. There are fans who get physically involved with Sabres fans, children who are spoken to with extreme vulgarity, and prick douchebags who think they can tell HSBC security to fuck off.

Those fans were belligerently drunk, and unnecessarily hostile.

I remember Caroline saying how comfortable she felt at the ACC when she went for the preseason game played up there. Too bad she can't say the same about going to Sabres-Leafs games at our home arena.

at a sabres / wings game in the early 2000-2001 season, satan scored to give the sabres a 2-1 lead. i was on an aisle seat, and i had gotten off my crutches that day. i dont know if anyone here has been to the joe, but its very small for 21,000 people, and its VERY steep. anyways, i jumped up in jubilation, and someone threw ice at me, then nachos. it culiminated with someone then shoving me from behind, and finally punching me. i wish i could say this is a tall tale. i was sitting by myself, as my dad couldnt get two tickets together, but he was a section away. so i had no one to talk to, and i certainly wasnt talking trash.

in the 06-07 season, a guy got in my face and started yelling at me, but i was 22, and so i simply gave him a solid shove, and that was that.

but i dont encapsulate all red wings fans in this light. just a few dipshits. but this persons reaction was extreme for little to no provokation.

I have been to The Joe before. Almost identical to the former Richfield Coliseum, just south of Cleveland. I always sat up high in both of those venues. Great public suite's, at least at Richfield.

the joe is very similar to the departed richfield. richfield was in the most random spot ever.

The Richfield Ciloseum was built based on the belief the population of Cleveland would migrate south of Cleveland. As it turned out it migrated East and West. This was at a time (construction) of the great deterioration of the rust belt downtowns, early 70's.

The last couple years of The Coliseum, they had built an exit out of the one parking lot to a small service road, which connected to the 77. I would park all the way in the back so as to get out quickly - but had to walk further. I could get to 77N in under ten minute. 77 to 90 west in 7 minutes, and 90 west to Bay Village in about 15 minites. That was very quick compared to how long it took the east siders travelling up 271 to get to their suburbs in the rush.

Brad Daugherty, Ron Harper, Hot Rod Williams, Chris Dudley.

If Daugherty stayed healthy, and they hadn't gambled and lost on sending Harper out to be able to acquire Danny Ferry, the franchise would have been solid for the ninetees....

I mostly went to The Cleveland Force Soccer Games there; as I worked for that franchise.

You are my current fav; seriously.

Drunk Leafs fans have been bothering me since the mid nineties when a couple drunks were falling out of their seats and into our seats in the upper blues. They literally couldn't stand up, and were falling forward. It further urked me that security seemed indifferent to our plight. I finally went to another security guy, and seeing their actions, finally ejected them from said event.

I remember going to a pre season game between The Rangers and North Stars at The Richfield Coliseum in the late eightees. They called the game after the first due to poor ice. The Stars Terry Ruskowski may have injured himself on the bad ice. They made the announcement, and said the game would be decided by a shootout. The crowd was majorly pissed, until they announced "and a refund will be available upon request." Ya think?

For those that want to hear the story in full:

My two friends were going back and fourth with a drunk ass Leaf's fan a few rows down. The guy walked up the stairs and got in their faces and wouldn't back off.

At this point, I was still wearing my caveman mask. Just a fun tidbit that makes this funnier.

Without the guy even seeing it coming, I wound up and gave him a full bitch slap across the face that was very, very audible.

Instead of jumping me like I thought he would try to do, he back away slowly and walked down the stairs flipping us off.

What a pussy. lol.
