If I'm Darcy Regier sitting here right now with a team thats 7-1-1, and their only loss was to an Atlanta team that made Lalime look terrible at best, I'm looking for an option to remedy that situation.

These are 3 possible scenario's I came up with; because I'm playing armchair GM.

Option 1:

Vancouver sends Raycroft to Buffalo, in exchange for a 4th round conditional draft choice (Either the one aquired from boston if we aquire it, or our own 4th)

Raycroft still has something in the tank, what it is we're not sure, but he's 29, going on 30, and offers a touch of youth at the back up position, as opposed to an aging goalie with a nagging hip injury.

Option 2:

LA Kings send Erik Ersberg and Brad Richardson, 4th round pick to Buffalo in exchange for Prospect Nick Eno, Sekera, and Adam Mair

Again, we add youth at goalie, another 3rd to 4th line player, and free up some cap space. LA gets a puck moving defensive man, a goalie prospect, and a viable veteran.

Option 3:

Colorado sends Peter Budaj to Buffalo for a 3rd and 5th round picks, and Adam Mair
Colorado has 5 goalies in their organization, and not enough room for all of them. They need to add some more "grit" to protect young rookies like Duchene, and O'Reilly. This also gives us the roster freedom to use Paetsch as a 4th line reserve, and Sekera as a 7th defensive man.

The only proven quality "backup" out there is Marty....... At least of the top of my head.

Well, 1.4M is a big price tag to trade to get Marty, especially considering it would end up costing us Sekera in a trade, to a team we have to face several times a year.

Honestly...I think if we were to trade in Lalime for another backup, fans would be really disappointed and surprised to see that we get similar results...

Raycroft and Budaj aren't what I would call upgrades.

How about Conklin?

Make sure he's not contagious before letting him step foot into our locker room (He's the third NHL'er with confirmed H1N1.)

How would you look if Ilya Kovalchuk was left wide open in front of the net...TWICE?

no one on earth would stop those kovie shots. not without moving first and putting something in the right spot at the right time.

raycroft is no answer. his glove hand is severely atrocious. and with luongo out for a week, maybe more (cracked ribs are very unpredictable) it wont happen.

nick eno really has no trade value. its very unlikely hell ever see ice beyond the AHL level.

sorry guys, i think we are stuck with patrick lalime, for better or worse. enroth certainly isnt a possibility right now.

I say put Myers in net for a game. Hell the kid already rocks on defense, solid offense and wins games in shootouts. Make it happen Ruff.

All three of those mentioned goalies all suck, I'd rather keep Laloser instead, unless Niitiymakii from Tampa is avaliable.

Tallinder for Marty. Straight up. Both are UFA's at the end of the year who will not be retained, and would provide each team with immediate help at positions of need. They have a surplus of goalies, we have a surplus of defensemen.

Easy...go get it done.

The Isles have depth in goal?

Really?

DiPietro is still on LTIR.

And it's not like they have a real solid guy in Bridgeport that can step up as the back up long term if they were to move Marty.

...Kevin Weekes is available. He's doing television analysis.

He stepped up quite well (along with Clemmensen) when Brodeur was out, for as long as he was, last season.

A consistent, talented, level-headed, veteran goalie.

Unspectacular, but very sound.

Someone hasn't been doing their homework... Dipietro isn't far away; read around in NHL talk, he's within weeks.

Correct, I have been following his progress closely and he's very near returning. He's been taking shots regularly and is moving very well according to the reports. Marty will be the odd man out upon his return.
