I wholeheartedly agree with the death penalty, especially for mass murder. I'm just concerned that our president will not authorize it

I think when it is all said and done we are going to find, tragically enough, that the shooter did not kill and wound all of those people. I don't know if it is possible with only two handguns.

zilla, it's MORE than possible with even one handgun. I'm also worried that the president won't approve it though.

One of the weapons he supposedly used was a FN Five-seven semi-auto handgun that has a very light single action trigger and shoots rifle-like rounds.

Maybe possible, but HIGHLY unlikely, especially given this guy was a shrink, not a marksman.

I think we are going to find a high incident of friendly fire.

I would hope Obama does NOT sign the death penalty order, but then again, I don't believe in giving the government the power to decide the life and death of its citizens.

Just call me a small government conservative.

I see your point zilla but in a crowded room, you don't need to be a marksmen to pick people off . Just because he was a doctor doesn't mean he could not have been a great shot.

He has to, ONLY because he's a military member. Otherwise, the great state of Texas would hang his ass with the quickness.

As ignorant as my last statement sounded, I honestly believe more than anything this will be a test of the president's "Muslim" heritage. I haven't passed any judgement, but I am looking at him under a microscope for what he's so far failed miserably at handling. All he's spoken of so far is the "jobs saved or created" and "health care bill".

WHEN does he decide to talk about Ft Hood?

I don't think I really believe in the death penalty. It shouldn't ever apply to me so I haven't thought much about it. I try to think how I'd feel if it were one of my friends or family that someone killed, which are pretty impossible shoes to put yourself in. But even then, I don't think I'd want someone else's life to end.

Well, I live in Virginia which is only second to Texas with the most people put to death. It's not a deterrent but I believe there are some violent acts that deserve the ultimate punishment.... Mass Murder is definitely one of them.

He is a marksman. It's week 7 of BCT. As the story unfolds, we'll probably find out where he ranked. Marksman: 23-29 kills. Sharpshooter: 30-35 kills. Expert: 36-40 kills.

My son, whose MOS is Motor Transport (truck driver) hit 37 targets, received the Expert Marksmanship Award and was only one hit shy of the best in his platoon.

To answer the question though, I don't think Obama will approve the death penalty. What I would do with him is another story. I'm pleading the ETC on this one as well :shhh:

Anyone questioning whether he'll sign the order just needs to take a step back. Remember when a US captain was held hostage by a couple of pirates? Remember how some big shot Republicans blasted the President for mishandling it? Remember how tool bags were twittering how the President looked weak? Remember how Obama authorized the use of Navy Seals to go in and take out 3 of the 4 pirates? Pretty weak right?

Someone told me there have been links found between Hasan and terrorists. While this is clearly an act of domestic terrorism, I cannot find any credible source that supports the assertion that there is any link between Hasan and Islamic terrorism or Al Quaeda

Alright, you're right. I still think a pursuit of some of the shadier areas of the killings is necessary to make judgment on what the reaction and penalties should be.

Well, we have an Army base full of witnesses that saw this guy shooting people unprovoked.
That's not disputed.
