Everyone always used to complain about Dumont's defensive abilities.

Pominville always backchecks harder than Dumont ever did.

How about the fact that he's 3rd on our roster in points, by only 2 of them?

Or the fact that he's 3 points away from being a point per game player?

What about the numerous times he's raced back to break up odd man rushes?

Or his strong ability to receive the puck on the half wall and always find the pass to clear it out of the zone?

If anyone needs a fucking wake up call, it's Vanek. 7 million is a stupid amount per year for a half point per game player.

Vanek has no fuckin excuse, not linemates, not TOI, not the swine flu or even the fact he may nursing a sore dick from jerking off to much while skating around. That's right, if somehow - because of some other GM's complete idiocy next summer - MacArthur is given an RFA offer sheet for 7 mil per, we should all expect (demand) that he magically becomes a 45-45-90 player. Does this make sense?

Should we really be expecting Vanek to be something he isn't, and was never expected to be, just because a bad/wrong set of circumstances resulted in an overblown contract?

Right now I'm an above average street cop, with skills and training that make me a little more valuable than most in my dept. If for some stupid reason the city decided to pay me a Chief's salary, guess what? I would still be an above average street cop. I wouldn't have a damn clue about police administration, playing politics, and influencing tax money or grants toward the dept, nor would I care about it.

Vanek should still be giving an honest effort and doing what Ruffs wants him to do, but this logic about him producing 7 mil worth of pts is wrong. People, get over the contract already.

Except I've seen games where Vanek has played like a 7 million dollar player.

It's just not consistent.

To a point, yes.

But in Vanek's case, it appears as though his failures as a superstar stem from the fact that he could skate harder.

That should be fixable.

Anyways, to think that we've shot out to this great start without Vanek being a factor... that's pretty impressive.

Agreed, out 3rd and 4th lines may not have contributed this weekend, but they have been a HUGE (YES BUFFALO HUGE,,,,,,,,,,HHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEE) factor for the great start.
This weekend truly exposed this teams line 1+2 failures and thats what scares me.

Offensively he's a great positional player, and gets in front for screens and slashes to the leg that he never gets credit for. Defensively he could skate harder and be in better position, but even if he did that he still wouldn't be a 7 mill player.

He NEVER WILL BE a 7 million dollar player.

I posted earlier I didn't think Roy, Vanek, Connolly or McArthur weren't the problems, my opinion leans toward the RW position. And I know Pommers points this season, but Stafford looks like a Staff Infection. He's like genital herpes, every once in a while he shows up, usually when the teams getting screwed
