Just thinking ahead is all, thinking of opponents like the rangers, flyers, ottawa and the like. You know, the ones we play quite often. I want a fuckin Stanley Cup boys, not just the playoffs. I have waited 39 yrs for it.

Great game for the team, great win, if it makes ya'll feel better :)

Every single team in the league can improve somehow; not just the Sabres.

What I saw tonight was the core of a team that wants to win the big games.

All teams have weaknesses. Even the champs.

Would I like to see the team improve? Of course!

Do I think it's necessary to win a cup? I'm not sure. Too early to tell. But I sure as hell don't want to think about it after a huge win against one of the best teams in the NHL tonight.

No offense, just sayin. :D

None taken PSP.

I just see something in this team is all. Like you I see the core of what could be a real chance to go for it. I just want to see the final couple of pieces put into place.

I don't think Calgary is one of the best, top 10 yes, top 5 not a chance. Our team could've done better tonight and it showed. But, lets not think about that, great win for the team as I said.

The team has to finish chances better, but Pominville was not to blame for the great one he had and missed in the 1st period. MacArthur sent a hard pass into his skates. It was the right idea but the pass was not very playable. It was still a good win but I wasn't that impressed either. I liked the physicality and the defense of teammates at each opportunity, but ultimately what wins games is scoring more than the other team. They need to find a way to score a little more often.

The answer to our problems lies with Vanek. He needs to get going.

We're talking about needing a big winger who can score goals.

We're at a point in his career, where I can't really be sure if he's ever going to be a consistent goal scorer. If there's any contract I'm wondering if it's time to regret, it's Vanek's.

We know what he CAN do. But he doesn't do it CONSISTENTLY.

That echoes the Sabres as a team the past two seasons. And part of the reason we said that about the Sabres, was because Vanek was like that at times.

But now that our defense is playing rock solid, and guys like Pominville, Roy, Connolly, MacArthur, and others on the team cash in, Vanek's lack of production isn't stinging us.

Our goal scoring winger has to be Thomas Vanek. And he has to start doing it soon.

Miller was solid, but also didn't have to make a ton of hard saves. In the SO he was very lucky on the first save. Dawes shot it early and caught Miller on his skates, but the inside of his left skate deflected it wide. Miller thought he was scored on, and I think it shook his concentration on the next soft goal from Jokinen. This time (finally) the shooters put a couple in to win the SO.

Actually, the pass was roughly 12 to 15 inches in the air, so it wasn't in his skates. Hard pass, yes.
But then again, great players learn how to make great plays. For 5 mil + a season, the play should have been made.
Otherwise then that, completely agree.

Nobody has more goals on the team than Vanek, he's tied with Mac and Stafford. The last couple games Buffalo has been killing penalties a lot, so his ice time is down. I'd like a little bit more from him, but I'm not worried.

Really??

I thought that first save was a great stop by Miller. He knew that dropping down with his pads to make that save wasn't going to be quick enough. The only way to stop that shot, which was taken unexpectedly, was to slew foot it to close your 5 hole. It's a butterfly goalie, making a stand up goalie save.

Miller is evolving. His stats in the NHL so far this year don't lie.

No, that chance was in the 2nd period. I'm talking about when he was right at the crease, got handcuffed and deflected it wide with his skate.

Why are you posting his season stats??? I know damn well he's at the top, and I'm the one shouting from the mountain tops that he's one of the top three goalies in the NHL.

That 1st SO save was lucky, absolutely lucky. So what? I don't expect him to stop everything, but he seemd shaky on the next one and I think because the first one bothered him. No big deal but my point is that he didn't have to stand on his head for once tonight.

Woah hang on there. I'm not trying to threaten you. I was just posting it because I was pumped that he was up there like that in all 4 categories.

I didn't say you weren't a supporter of Miller.

It was just my personal opinion that, in the shootout, Miller knew what he was doing on that first save.

The second one was a 5 hole attempt again, only closer in. I think he was undecided on how to play it. It looked like he just got beat that time.

Still, when you look at the breakaways he had to stop tonight... damn good job.

Great game!! the energy was absolutely awesome. roy was a beast and it was awesome to see Mair come out with a do or die attitude. This was definitely a statement game because Calgary is one of the biggest teams in the league and they got probably one of the best defensive line ups in the league. The First Period especially I think really boosted this teams confidence. 2nd period they put themselves in the box too much but they pulled out the win and it was a hell of a hockey game to watch.

Vanek really needs to break out soon though. I feel like his slumping is hurting his linemates. Hopefully he has a breakout game soon that gets him out of this dry spell. But for tonight, its all LETS GO BUFFALO!!

hopefully the Sabres can maintain this intensity against the Flyers tomorrow night. Payback time!

Lets hope we can return that favor in their house. Bastards. I want to see Mike Richards put on his ass for his hit on Connolly last game.

That game was awesome, the arena was buzzing and it was pretty intense the entire game. Plus there were two dudes dressed up as Gumby and a watermelon and that's always a plus at every game.

Gumby and a Watermelon...that's sounds just too funny to be true. And the best part is, is that it is true. I can't wait to get to my first game in January vs. the Aves...
