Yea! what does he know, it's not like hes one of the best hockey players of the decade...

I blame Ruff. He's doing the same thing to Vanek

Kotes too? Maybe "the system" is too inflexible to allow individual skill or flair. Right now it's working, so I ain't bitching.

I see plenty of smiling, both on the bench and on the ice. I see plenty of individual skill and flair (what Connolly was doing to Bouwmeester and Phaneuf on Friday night is a perfect example of this). I see plenty of success due to this individual skill and flair. Kovalchuk only has one person's opinion of the situation up here, and it is very skewed. Melly just quipped that Max acted like the spoiled favorite who wasn't the favorite anymore, and he was treated accordingly. So, as I said, he can stop running his mouth because he doesn't know the whole story and he can go suck cocks.

Kovalchuk should take off the visor.

Not like Daniel Briere's career didn't take off with Ruff as his coach. Brian Campbell too...

This argument is invalid due to the Visor Correllary

I can agree with this. Ruff's system is more defensively orientated. Someone pointed out defense wins championships, I can say with confidence "go tell that to the defensive team that just DID NOT win the cup because they were outscored".

This isn't football, defense is just as important as offensive in Hockey. Run up the score by capatilizing on chances (which means having the talent to do so), Forecheck aggressively to keep the opponent pinned in their zone for long stretches of time (You need offensive power fowards and aggresive grinders combined with skilled talent that performs to their skill level to do that) and create an atmosphere that when your team takes the ice the other team is already in a defensive mind set (due to the reputation of a high speed, heavy forechecking attack).

We're winning under the system right now. We can change it when we start losing. Right now we're one of the best teams in the league, even though we barely made any changes to the roster. Yes, there are a few new faces and some more leadership, but I have to say that the biggest change was Lindy's system.

Defense wins, and offense helps.

If you're only facing 20 shots a game, but you are shooting over 35 a game, you are most likely going to win.

Hockey is a game of bounces, and you have them or you don't. Even the best teams can get beat any given night because of unlucky bounces.

If your defense is blocking shots and taking away the rebounds, it gives offensive players better chances to run up the ice and more odd-man rushes.

Hockey isn't just about offense or defense, you need a balance of both in order to win games.

Palfy's golden years were under Mike Milbury -- Possibly the worst headcoach/gm of the 20th century.
This argument has no weight whatsoever. Try again

Because Kovalchuk was in Buffalo and he was with the team every day and knew what was going on in the locker room, right?

Bull shit.

He's one of the hardest working I ever see. Off the ice he's in the gym every day and he's preparing himself. Johnny trusts him and put him in key situations. He feels more comfortable and he gives you results... He's every day, he's smiling, and that's the most important thing. In Buffalo you can't smile. If you smile you sit on the bench."

LoL that's because Kovalchuck doesn't know the definition of hard working.

He has a lot of skill, granted, but Kovalchuck isn't under the list of "hard working players" in the Nhl.

Standing on the blue line isn't that difficult.

Max is hard working on OFFENSE...but did nothing in terms of defense.

He doesn't have to be, as long as he isn't a moron he'd notice that Ruff benches after a single mistake

All due respect, but he stated he works hard off the ice(which isn't unexpected seeing his g/f is athletic too). I don't think I'd call Max lazy anyways. I'd vote for hard worker too(but then again, I'm not Michael Phelps either).
