I didn't mean the organization, Rut, I meant the players.

Why is Briere a scumbag for leaving Buffalo? I was always under the impression that the Sabres decided to focus on re-signing another certain former co-captain instead of Danny, so Briere naturally decided to take his services elsewhere.

I don't think he's a scumbag for leaving, but I do think Regier really fucked up signing both of them. When Regier neglected the ready-to-sign $5 mil for 5 seasons deal and focus on Drury, it meant neither were staying. Briere didn't like their inactivity during the season, and Drury didn't like the disloyalty. Oops.

Well we did give him a bad deal... it wasnt the best but we did try to resign him correct? so why wouldnt the players not like him? cuz he could be helping the sabres and instead isnt, so ya? idk Id understand if they players hate him. He could have been the captain helping us? right idk just throwing it out here

Regier messed up the co-captain sitcheeashun just a taaad, but I'm happy with the team right now. I wouldn't mind still having Briere (even though he's a smarmy little weasel hahaha) and not having, saaaay, Hecht, but really I don't think that this team would be in any different a position were we to have him or Drury.

It's quite amusing how it took his leaving the team for the majority of Sabres fans to realize that Briere is basically a douche on the ice. I thought everybody's eyes would be opened after he got caught spearing Ovechkin and then pretended that he had no idea what reporters were talking about when they question him about it. Homeboy's not the best liar.

I always thought that the Sabres didn't really give Briere an offer until the last minute, right before free agency. And by that point Briere had already made his decision to test the open market. But who really knows...the only thing we know for sure is that it was a mess for the Sabres organization. But whatever. I don't know if the players have any ill will towards either Briere or Drury...it's the business side of hockey and I don't think the players really discuss that with each other.

Right now, I think the Sabres just see Briere as another opposing player that they have to beat.

He had so many fangirls on the boards and everywhere else, though. If you implied that he was a dirty player then you'd get jumped. Now it's like, "Oh, yeah, of course he is. Of course." But I kept my mouth shut about him for a nice long while for that reason.

I'm sure there were plenty of others that did the same, though. I've seen that in plenty of other situations. People on one side of an issue or what have you will keep their mouths closed for the longest time, leading the other side to believe that they don't exist, because the other side is far more vocal and vehement and ridiculous. Then when all these other people come out of the woodwork they're all, "O U HIPPOCRATES!" and it's like... Ummm, nope. We've always been here.

I've seen "hypocrites" misspelled as Hippocrates so many times on YouTube. I read the comments there for amusement on a daily basis.

They could be friends, but business aspects aside.

When they play against each other they are mortal enemies, and even in post-game shows they are. Until that night is over, they hate each other.

Exactly, and Daniel was a mentor for the core of our current players. He plays a little dirtier than Drury so obviously things will be chippier against Briere.

Maybe Darcy didn't sign Briere because then he'd need another 3 million to sign a good enforcer to save his ass whenever he got caught spearing people?
