WTF is this crap about buying a hockey team? how about you concentrate ON PLAYING FOR THE SABRES YOU OVERPAID HACK. Seriously, is no one else kind of outraged to see this post in the midst of vanek being an absolute suckpod on the ice?
No, players can have hobbies, what's the big deal.
In a year where our highest paid, supposedly most potent offensive weapon is shooting blanks, i'd think/hope/expect that he'd be a bit too focused on improving his game to be taking on such a large endeavor. Look at his freaking post...his own hockey playing is a footnote, like..."oh, i'm totally sucking, but since i'm a veteran i'm not going to worry about it". Well, flippin fantastic for him, I guess once i've been working at my job a couple more years I can just float around, hardly doing my job, and everyone will be happy about it.
dude, chill out. like others have mentioned, players have hobbies/business ventures outside of hockey. Chelios owns a bar and has his own chili brand, a couple players on Vancouver own a friggen disco bar in Sweden, Tim Horton had, well, Tim Hortons, and even Gretzky has his own restaurant. if you want to look at the Sabres, Miller has his own clothing store, plus that Catwalk for Charity that he has to play every year, Teppo had Montreal
as for his current scoring slump. thats just it, a slump. it will end and his shots will start finding the back of the net. we're 15 games into the season lets wait until...say...25 before we start crucify him. Hell, he even said that hes typically a slow starter.
Further more, he took on this venture
during the summer and said that
during the summer he would work with the team. its not like hes skipping town on off days to go coach a bunch of 10yr olds.
Alright, alright...good points woz, i'm chilling.
Yes, I understand its a summer thing, and that humans ARE capable of doing more than playing hockey. It's great that he's helping kids play hockey, and that he's the sort of person who gets psyched about philanthropic endeavors. Great, seriously, those are all good things.
But this was from mid november, he's thinking and posting about this primarily...then tosses in at the end how he's not doing well this year, but isnt worried about it. The post as a whole, at this point in time, is a bit worrisome to me, indicating perhaps that peripheral things are more of a focus than the sabres. At least thats how I read it, perhaps i'm being a bit pessimistic, but I dont think unrealistic.
