This third period is going to be the real test, on where this team stands.

This will be a benchmark, on the next 20 games.

Do they step up, and pull the win out? Or are they still the same old "gotta get done, and get down to Chippewa" Sabres?

Seriously. Pulling out a win in regulation would be very convincing, tonight.

Is this the effort you were talking about Dan? :D

If he had put the puck down one second earlier, it would have been a goal. But he couldn't control it in his hand until when he put it down.

Name a team who can do that and beat a 4 man trap at the blueline?

I'm not impressed. They're fucking around and still fancy, and still looking for the call.

If Roy dives and loses the puck I'll be very disappointed.

Well if you're disappointed in their third period chances then you're crazy.

and they're playing too close in. play back. that way the rebound isn't 15 feet behind you, by the time you figure the shot's been taken.

Ok, here is the list, that I have seen actually do it this season so far. And you can bet we are going to see these teams this season scortch our team unless they play the way the should.

Rangers
LA
Chicago
Detroit
Atlanta
Washington
Vancouver
San Jose
Tampa Bay

Hey, you asked, I can only tell you what I have seen this season, especially the Rangers and Washington.

That's a rarity though.

You dump and chase to loosen up those tailing defensemen. Get them thinking about turning around earlier, and make sure you hit them once you get back there.

Over the course of a game that helps loosen it up. Guys leave their positions earlier, and they start to not want to take those hits.

Plenty of chances so far in this third.

That is the first licking Vanek has taken in awhile.

Some of you talk like he stands directly in front of the net taking all these beating hits (like Gaustad and guys like Holmstrom do) and it never truly happens.

If you go to games, he just floats in the slot, and if he ever makes it in front of the goalie, he'll quickly get out before he can get hurt.

He finally paid the price for it. Maybe he'll learn. Effort is punishable.

You also need to see that Boston has 3 guys right at their net at all times, get in close for those rebounds or Boston is going to get them every time also.

We sorta play the same way on defense.
