The assassin apologizes for screwing up the first clue, though it didn't hinder anyone because
A). No one could come up with the phrase until Sabretoothpick
B). No one could figure out how to use said phrase until Sabretoothpick

Still as a show of good assassin-faith, the next victim will not be a member of the police force.

One of the most fun, and simultaneously most evil ways I’ve been playing this game is posting statements that, while 100% correct, do not indicate much about me as a person. In fact, some are the opposite of what you'd expect of me. Assumption is as nasty a foe as I am, and is currently working very much in my favor. Several people have made statements about my personality that are just plain wrong, which delights me. The clues about me present the facts. I am this, I am that. Those by extension do not necessarily mean I am something else. Future clues may involve me clarifying some things, and in the end, if caught, I will explain away everything.

PucksniperPensel has a post that was more correct than he knows about something everyone else was very wrong about.

identity clues are tricky. they have to be one of two things. either easy to figure out, but cryptic. or very difficult to decipher, but obvious. it is quite difficult.

PSP - You thinking this is your post about Captain Pants (Pantallica?) or something else? He's also in Canada so the War in 2003 (Quebec vote to secede?) would be applicable.

It can't be about Captain Pants because he got back to me and told me he's an extreme atheist.

Let me go back and look at what I've put together.

Although earlier in his post, he did say that the clues could be the opposite.

Perhaps he was being sarcastic about the bible and church, and it is captain pants after all...

Didn't people disagree with me on the captain issue a couple times or something?

There's a lot to sift through!

The assassin is busy devising a clue that if solved, will be very, very clear.

If.

The Assassin should start working on his next victim clues if in fact we have protected the correct one this round  ;)

And now everything that PSP has said could be considered a clue!

More information!

Yay!

PSP was the first to say it might not be a Sabres captain...

My other issue Schony is that Pantallica had Entourage listed as one of his favorite TV shows.

It's really not something to go by, but I can't imagine a trekkie being a fan of Entourage. It just doesn't mix.

People didn't agree with me that I thought it was possible Crosscheck called center ice a "feed."

I said something about Sean Avery due to captain Avery from star trek that wasn't agreed upon.

The thing that sticks out the most to me is when I talked about the surnames.
Do any of the captains, or the actors who played the captains, share a last name with any of our forum members?

I said we could be looking at the UB part wrong, too. If you were the killer, why would you allow the forum to narrow down the prospect list so easily?

Correct me if I'm wrong, Assassin, but even if our protects were incorrect, you should be working on your next clues anyways!

... at least until we catch you. :angry-tappingfoot:

Okay, going back through this. You said the assassin was tired at 9 PM, which leads me to believe I was wrong about Xcheck since he lives in cali.

Pantallica (Captain Pants) is an atheist. Due to the sarcasm in his post that says he likes long walks on the beach and puppies, he could have been kidding about the bible on the shelf. But, he's an Entourage fan. It's possible that an Entourage fan would be a Trekkie, but not entirely likely.

Out of all the things I posted above, the surname idea seems to be one that wasn't discussed.

I think we should focus on that part of the assassin's clue.

The third from 86-93, sharing a surname from that who I've seen. Stints too in 94, 96, 98, 02.

Maybe when he's talking about the 3 captains, he doesn't mean in chronological order.

What captain when from 86-93 with stints in 94, 96, 98, and 02?

This captain was Jean-Luc Picard, or Patrick Stewart.

The surnames are Picard and Stewart.

So the assassin has seen a person with the last name of Picard or Stewart. Can anyone connect the dots here?

1) I don't know of any forum member with either of those surnames so I don't think that's it.
2) The chronological thing is bothering me  The assassin said "The first from 01-05. No stints. No one liked him much" How do you have the first in 01-05, the second from 66-69 etc, and the third from 86-93 etc.?
3) I do agree that the evidence this is a Star Trek captain is overwhelming and that Picard or Stewart are probably correct.
4) There were two Picards - one for CBJ & one for the Sens - right?
5) Stewart, Anthony ATL -Stewart, Chris COL -Stewart, Gregory MTL

All of the above players are Canadian born. What about retired players?

6) The assassin owns Canes apparel. WHY? :shhh:

Why is it so important to the assassin for us to know he has seen a certain captain? He never says he shares the name. Anyone who has seen a hockey game has seen a captain in person. Something doesn't seem to make sense as to the importance unless the assassin lives outside of NA in which case, it would be a very big deal to see a game.

Where have the last few winter Olympics been played? Was there a Stewart or Picard on any countries roster?
