I love having a bunch of friends all up doing the same paper with me at 4:00 in the morning. Camaraderie FTW. We can bemoan our complete lack of sleep tonight together.

I saw a website which had every movie that was a massive blockbuster and it showed even with inflation they would have made more money than today's movies, I think the newest movie in the top ten was one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and that adjusted for inflation and such.

But this is the list going by inflation:
http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm (The Dark Knight's down at 27 lolol)
This one looks a lot more like you'd expect it to look after adjustment for that. The highest-grossing films that way are the same ones that have endured in pop culture for decades and will probably be watched in one form or another by my great-grandchildren.

Going by inflation, I remember that Cleopatra was actually the most expensive movie to make of all time, and it was shot in 1963. The most expensive music video ever was Scream. Hmmm what other random things do I know for no reason at all. :P

Agreed fully, Mike, but after seeing like five posts by Schony on her own wall on Facebook about how it was disgusting and blahblah (especially with how big a fan of his she is), I decided to check it out on YouTube. He makeouts with a dude, simulates forced oral twice, and prances around on stage like a noveau glam god. This is standard stuff in the glam circuit, going back to the 1970's. People are so uptight.

well, this was on american tv. americans are uptight about not only sex, but same sex sex. while i couldnt care less about anyone on american idol, people need to relax.

at the same time, it makes him edgy and a pioneer. sure to garner him attention. no such thing as bad publicity, ya know?

you see conan obrien interview that spencer pratt jackass? same kinda deal. only conan was visably annoyed and appalled. it was BAD. guy makes abortion look awesome.

Brian Burke marched in a gay pride parade with his out-and-proud son Brendan. That's family, right there.

(Bucci just did an article about Brendan Burke for ESPN)

He's way off the mark when saying that women are never criticized for doing the same thing. 'Scuse me? I can name quite a few incidents in the past few years where women were put through the ringer for doing half what he did, even if it wasn't at all intentional, as his performance clearly was.

Edgy and a pioneer? He's not either if this has been common practice in glam rock for decades.

As far as bringing it outside of that to a different venue, he was relying on overt sexuality (like PLENTY of people before him), without realizing that he's doing it completely wrong (actually, any overt sexuality is wrong, in that sense). So many performers today are ridiculously obvious and blatant in their performances and in their public appearances, and it's just... AHHHH. They won't endure. They might be popular for a decade or two, sure, but after this generation, that's it for them. They don't understand the power of subtlety and not letting it all hang out, so to speak. Their predecessors do, but they take what their predecessors have done and completely bastardize all of it, essentially. Considering the venue, I basically look at Adam Lambert's performance as the ultimate in lack of insight and forethought. A pioneer he is not.

Then again, I don't think that most current pop artists really care at all if they are still mentioned by the grandchildren of their fans today, in that sense. :P

He should stick to the niche where he fits and stop trying to be mainstream, if this is what he's going to do. It's not going to work if he doesn't do that. Perhaps he could be good if he stayed within his genre and respected for many years that way, if he proves to actually have a decent amount of talent, but the mainstream is a completely different animal, and he's off to a horrible start if he hopes to endure. But, yeah, he probably doesn't care about that... His contemporaries certainly don't.

a lot of young people watch those awards. some of that choreography was NOT necessary. Award shows in my mind should be a family friendly kinda thing, and that's definitely not the type of performance I'd wanna watch with my mom

I did, because she ever so kindly saved it on tape for me.

It wasn't about the song, it was about being outrageous. And that's not cool.

Why did I smell out this thread? ;)

Glambert was dropped from ABC's Good Morning America show today (picked up by CBS Wednesday). The east coast saw an uncensored version of Adam being a total douche bag, while the west coast got a :orcs-censored: virgin...errrmm... I mean version.

As liberal as I am, I think he really was unnecessarily over the top. Especially given he is really an unknown artist and should have utilized this opportunity to shine. Ever since he came out in RS, he's done nothing but focus on being an outrageous homosexual rather than singing. I have nothing against LGBT's and I'm sure most of you know me well enough by now to know that's the truth. I've seen better drag shows than what I saw from Adam Sunday night. That caters to a specific audience - not mainstream.

I loved Adam as a singer and sensual performer until I saw the AMA's. If I want to see someone drag half naked guys around on a leash, imply a blow job by thrusting some guys head into his crotch numerous times, grabbing women by their panties, and then sucking face with another guy, I would get a porn vid.

I've seen many who say people who share my opinion are hypocrites citing we dismiss Madonna's kiss with Brittney on the AMA's a few years ago, but call Adam out for it.

Brittney & Madonna are not lesbians. Adam is shoving his :gay-imgay: in our face . He should should take his cue from Elton John and do that they both do best - SING. Have you ever seen Elton swap spit and pull guys faces into his crotch? What Adam did was distasteful, classless, and vulgar given the venue it was presented in :handgestures-thumbdown:

Seriously. I thought his vocals were horrid. I thought it was totally inappropriate for mainstream television and the audience was horrified.

Wow.. That was not a random thought ;)

Peace out, or maybe piece out
PSA: If Adam is around you'd better contain your piece
