I accidentally stole some dishes from the cafeteria, which is downstairs in the same building as my dorm, a few weeks ago, and I've yet to return them. Tomorrow I leave to go home for Thanksgiving, and the room has to be absolutely spotless and will be checked... Soooo I hid them in my pants drawer.

Edit:
Whilst in the process of cleaning, I found some random piece of paper that says
"there is nothing more than that that will hurt me more
than the knuckles of the king and they are mocking him"
in my handwriting. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. Maybe the main idea of a poem or something, because I do write those and often write down random things to remind me of ideas for them, but WHAT.

edgy and a pioneer in mainstream pop? yes.

I don't think so, though... See, there have been plenty of artists, or "artists" I suppose, who have done very similar things in the past. The reactions were about the same (though in all honesty I think this will blow over relatively quickly, in comparison to how badly other people have been put out to dry in the past), and that was that. It's never caught on because it's not accepted in mainstream music performancee, but it's been done at those venues, typically with negative repercussions on the careers of those who attempt them, for two or three years. He's not the first to have a performance like that within the realm of mainstream pop, and he won't be the last.

I respect them doing this. I am actually very accepting of gays, and hang with some occasionally. I have a funny story on this, but it won't be recounted here.

As far as Burke's sons aspirations in sports, this will make it difficult for him to be seen as credible - whether it should or not.

Bowie and Neil Young wrote more good songs over more years than any other artists of their genre. I would say they were both great from 1968 through the late 1990's. That's almost 30 years. Bands like The Beatles, Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Genesis, Dylan, Elton John, Billy Joel, and several others were prolific for between 7 and 15 years; never the same duration as Bowie or Young.

I was watching Caddyshack on VS. Where Bill Murray, speaking to Groundskeeper Sandy The Scottsman, says "It's not my fault no one can understand you; you fuzzy foreigner", they cut out "you fuzzy foreigner", I gave up on it, as it is over censored.

I don't know if I could count on one hand the number of items that have walked with me from the dining hall. I suppose I may return them at the end of the year.

I just closed a deal to buy my first piece of art, painted by a guy I know in Jamestown. It's my first step on the path to becoming a WNY-specific art collector :)

That's a pretty sweet looking painting.

My passport came in the mail. Woo.

And my grandfather berated my father when he wouldn't let me have a glass of wine with the Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. Said that's what they do in good Irish families. I'm a mutt, anyway.

I don’t know what to do and I don’t know where to go to get the potential answers. I have finished school with out feeling like I know how to do anything with the time I spent. I can produce quality work. I know how to use almost any material that I can be handed. I can use Photoshop and Illustrator with some confidence and am self taught in vinyl sign programs. Yet through out all of this I have no idea how good I am. I don’t know if, by industry standards, where I rank. The jobs that are out there seem out of my league. A lot ask for expert knowledge of programs that I have either never heard of or don’t think I have expert knowledge in. all of this makes me hesitant to apply anywhere. I have tired asking my past professors about this and they never give me a straight answer about my skill level…

Right now I’m working at a frame shop that is run by an idiot. The company is run like shit. My manager is also managing another store because the owners are too cheap/broke to hire someone else. My manager is at the other store 4 days a week spending 1 at my store. Im making $9.00 an hr and have been since I started working there 3 years ago. In those 3 years I have gone from a newbie to, or more less, the primary sign designer in the company, a professional frame cutter/joiner, professional frame designer, quality mat cutter, and can more or less run the store by myself (and have for a number of days). Granted, my store isn’t large but I am able to handle almost anything that anyone that comes in can throw at me. The only thing that im lacking is the actual management training part of it. I truly think that for what I do/can do at that store I should be making at the very least $11. When I asked about a raise of some kind I got told that while they would love to, they cant afford it. Now, some people in the company havent gotten a raise in 5 years. I love most of my job, I love coming up with framing treatments and seeing it go from a few corner sample to a completed project with a very happy client. But I don’t know how much more I can live with working 25hrs a week at $9 an hr.

I still live at home and don’t have to pay any rent (thank god) but I don’t want to do this forever and I don’t see my current job getting any more rewarding any time soon. I have been looking for jobs on Craigslist. Ive checked out Monster and CareerBuilder but those have both been busts. Monster keeps telling me to join the Navy and CareerBuilder likes giving me jobs that have no relation to anything I know how to do (like Structural Engineer). Ive sent out emails about me doing hockey masks but I only 2 responses. 1 guy thought I was some corporation and when I told him I wasn’t he stopped emailing me. The second guy said “sure, we’ll put your flier up only if you make a “donation” to our rink” effectively ending that.

Frankly, you guys are the most diverse group I know and am hoping that you have some advice.

Try joining Linkedin, I've found that it can be very helpful and everyone on the website is professional. It is nothing like Facebook or myspace. People are always more than happy to answer any of your questions and give advice. It can be a very useful tool. Professional networking can really be beneficial, you never know who people know.

The one thing that helped me was to start my own website to showcase some of my work, which I see that you have done. It helped me get my first writing job.

Goodluck
