Does anyone think that maybe Max is trying harder this year because of the kick in the pants he got by almost not signing a contract?
and the fact that the one he got was 2 million cheaper than before...

Yeah it sucks he didn't turn it up his last 2 years in Buffalo, but he has an excuse to be doing this good now. He had a good wake up call.

The point is Max had some offensive hockey left in him. The problem is someone didn't know how to get that out of him - whether it was through strategy or motivation. Either way "someone" failed.

*cough* Ruff *cough*

I'll tell ya what, this is becoming a no-brainer. If anyone thinks Max's stats are a fluke, then please explain WHY they are a fluke?? If your explanation is "the system", then why draft a player like that INTO your system?

He would EASILY be the best player on our team with his current stats. Looks like Atlanta got a discount.

see, heres the thing. max was, i believe, drafted before ruff started this system.

also, lets say you draft all these players that would fit right into your system then whoops, the coach changes and your fucked. i do believe that part of Maxs down fall was the result of what Ruff tried to do with the teams play. Unfortunately it ended up like putting the square block in the round hole and Max left to greener pastures (at least for the time being).

Atlanta took a gamble. They took a player who, for the most part, sucked it up and looked to be out of the league and signed him. Fortunately for them, its paying off right now. but who knows, come December it could all go to hell.

21 points in 21 games. Plus 6. Anyone who ever played sports at any level will tell you that playing with confidence is very important.

squirrel get you ass in here more often, Pal.

I never bashed Max; so I am not surprised with his turn around. I say turn around because I can't spell renaissance!!

Scrotalik I have, and will always despise.....

As I said, I believe Max could have been utilized better while here and on the positive side, Alice is up to -11

It's his corollary for a lot of things. He doesn't automatically think someone sucks due to wearing a visor. Trust me.

Alex has always bashed on visors on players, and it has always been a joke.

Heck he says Ovechkin sucks because he wears a visor, and we all know that is false.

24 points in 23 games. He had an assist for the only goal in game. 11/28

Max has more even strength points than any Sabre. not living off pp.

16 even and 8 on pp.

Players always play better with confidence. Look at Vanek? This year he has none. Last year at the start of the season everything he touched was golden.

It is also more along the lines of if Max sucks, he'll be out of a job next year.

He doesn't put up any points he is gone to the KHL or out of hockey completely. Since he is not playing alongside Kovalchuk and Peverly he is ripping it up even more.

It is something we expected him to do anyways.

Max was going to succeed in Atlanta and we knew he had the talent to. He just couldn't do so in a system meant for defensive style of play.
