Had a huge discussion on egregious media misrepresentation of basically every single event ever in my Global Perspectives class today. I don't care how many times I hear from people who have either been in the military recently or who know someone that is; hearing what really went down versus what the media reported will always make me angry. It's like how I still get shocked whenever I see the AP print something that I know, from previous research or whatever, is not true. And my professor brought in Honduran newspapers and compared them with what our media is saying about their election troubles at the moment. Talk about... yeah. His friends in Honduras got really annoyed when he shared with them what the American press was saying. And we spent some time on all the witch hunts they've created in the past, essentially destroying the lives of quite a few people for no reason whatsoever, convincing the American public that they were guilty of terrible things when in reality, if they had reported all the facts from the beginning, nobody would have ever believed in their guilt. It seems that with most things discussed, they reported approximately 2-5% of the facts, and that 2-5% are only the ones that correlated with what they thought should be happening, and they distorted that little bit that they did report so much with speculation that even it wasn't true anymore.

It was fascinating purely because that is a discussion that I usually reserve for having with friends... It's sad, though, because most people will acknowledge to you that the American media have no credibility, but then the next day they will repeat what is basically a rumor that has been reported as fact. They really do control people's thoughts and opinions. And it's weird because I understand the political bias; it is a fact that the vast majority of mainstream journalists share the same political viewpoints, and without a significant portion of people there that do not, there isn't really going to be any credibility whatsoever because without adequate opposition they're free to create any reality they want... That is just common sense... But the rest, stuff that has to do with just individual people or with other nations that we don't currently have a military presence in? Man, they love their sensationalism.

I still read the news, though. Just take it with a huge grain of salt, especially when it comes to certain things.

As a veteran myself and a military dependent I'll share a story with you. Remember when bush went on television and said we were in a Holy war and a "mission from God"? Nearly every military person I knew at the time that wasn't a fanatical christian and had been to the sand box was pissed beyond belief. When people were saying he's "not my president" we were saying "he's not my commander in chief" (in private of course). You just don't give credit to the enemies fanatical view that they're in a Holy war...ever. Talk about throwing the troops in the fire with a casual stupid remark. Anyhow....if you read the news or watched the coverage no one blinked an eye in America. The papers in Germany at the time though were running all kinds of stories about Bush's comments and how crazy they were. I had a group of German's at the pub tell me quote "You have your George Bush, we had our Hitler" Talk about a difference of coverage and truth. Anyway, I know all too well the feeling of turning on the television and going..."wait..what the fuck?"

so, about a month ago, i was at a bar, and a friend made fun of me. instinct kicked in, and i went to smack him in the nuts. only i hit the metal bar of the chair next to me. so, for the longest time, there has been something under the skin, roughly the size of a pea, where that hit. have no idea what it was, but after the inital bruise, it hasnt hurt, unless i really rub at it. well, i woke up this morning, its extremely painful, and its roughly 3 inches in diametre, sticking up about a fourth of an inch... what the fuck could this be?

Sariously? (I decided to type that like I say it.)

Can this be done on Macs? Mine doesn't have one because of cheapness, but my roommate's does.

I'm investigating now because my first thought was "I want a hidden camera."

Before I bought my new laptop, I had one without the built in webcam. My brother bought me one for my birthday that like, clipped on some of the screen, for relatively cheap, and it had that feature. One of my good friend's boyfriend had a similar situation as you except it was his roommate who was stealing, and he caught the roommate in the act. I'll give her a call and let you know what kind of computer he used.

Hmm....It could be that the metal chunk is causing the swelling but even more probable, it may be a ladybug that has taken resident in your hand and is trying to release itself... Just a thought.
