Okay so I'm going to my first Sabres game in years and my second ever on January 23 in San Jose. (I've never lived near buffalo and I never had the money growing up). They are only here once every two years and I finally have the money to go this year! I'm just wondering how it works in away games. Is there usually a place you can go to see the team as they enter the arena or no? I really want to meet the players. I'm going to post this on the San Jose boards too to see how it works at their arena but I was just wondering if there's anything the Sabres do. Regardless of whether or not I get to meet them I am SO stoked.

Typically we travel to the other teams arena, and then play them in it.

You mean the tunnels to and from the dressing room?
Or from the parking lot?

Here, I'm not sure if you can meet the away team in the parking lot. I think they ride a bus over from whatever hotel they're staying at.

I hope somebody else knows more about this because I really don't.

 I came in here to answer with this, even though I did read the OP.

I would ask on the SJ boards which hotel the opposing teams typically stay in. Then wait for them to come out like paparazzi.

All I'm really asking is how they usually get to games from their hotel and stuff and if there's usually somewhere in the parking lot you can go and maybe happen to see them. Sorry, but I've never gotten the opportunity to go to a game until now so I don't know how it works.

Well, I know that the morning skates for the opposing team are closed to the public at HSBC Arena, so I'd assume the same through-out the league.

As for seeing them after the game, I don't know about that either. Your best bet is to stick yourself by their tunnel before the game and get all the high-fives you can.
