Avery would get 30+ for this but I can't believe the NHL will let Ocrapkin go away with this BS. I don't wish him a terrible injury but I do hope that he's out for a long period of time, hate his dirty style.

Injury 1 month + 12 games after his return

 12 games AFTER his return...never. if he gets anything it will run concurrent to his injury time

Yeah, the NHL depends on Ovechkin's draw for ratings as much as Crosby. I love to watch Ovechkin, but I hate the double standard. If you play like an asshole, you get treated like an asshole. Or at least you should be...

That's right. I hope the NHL sees it that way.

OV loves the knee on knee hits. Lets not forget the same play on Gonchar.

Quote:
Ovechkin suspended for two games
Tuesday, 12.01.2009 / 4:04 PM / News NHL.comThe NHL announced Tuesday that Washington Capitals' forward Alexander Ovechkin has been suspended two games as the result of a knee-on-knee collision with Tim Gleason of the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night in a 3-2 Washington victory.

Ovechkin was issued a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct for the collision with Gleason. Ovechkin said he was just trying to "make a normal hit" on Gleason, but the 'Canes' defenseman turned quickly and Ovechkin didn't react in time.

Nevertheless, it was his second game misconduct in the last three games. He also was called for a five-minute boarding major and game misconduct in last Wednesday's game against Buffalo.

I'm glad to see this. It's nice to see the league didn't overlook this being Ovechkin and all.

Read the article on the Buffalo News.

He's trying to say it couldn't have been avoided, and that he won't stop playing that way.

What a fucking nimrod.

So, i'm assuming his suspension will run concurrently with his injury? If so, that is complete bullshit. I'm sure the league loved it, because one of their stars will in effect only miss the games he's hurt for (assuming he's hurt for at least two games). It SHOULD be that once he is healed he is then suspended. I understand that would be trickier to enforce, but it still seems like the right thing to do.

I used to really love OV, but...yeah, he's playing like a real prick lately, it seems he's taking on an 'untouchable' viewpoint, since till this point...thats what he's been. Hopefully this suspension will shatter that illusion, no more can the excuse of 'well he doesnt have a history of this' be used. Good. Prick.

As much as I would like to see more, they're shockingly consistent.

Kaleta has a history of majors, so he got two games.

Ovie also now has a history, so he gets two games.

What I want to see is consistency moving forward. If Patty and Ovie did the same thing in March, do they give both suspensions again, or does Ovie get the 'superstar clock reset'?

Frankly, Ovie should have been considered a repeat offender after boarding Kaleta because of the Gonchar incident, but we all know the league ignores that shit in the playoffs.

Just like the hit on Gonchar couldn't be avoided. This guy is turning into a complete hazard to the players in the league. Before Ovechkins' career is over, he will injury someone so bad it will end their career....mark my words.

I don't think he got a game misconduct for that hit on Gonchar, did he?

that would be fine, let him destroy himself but don't destroy others in the meantime

How can you guys, girls be happy with JUST 2 games? Ocrapkin is a repeating offender. Bettman is a fuckin clown he turns this league into the crosby, ov show!

Ocrapkin himself said that he wont change his playstyle! You know that means the bastard keeps playing dirty (including knee of knee!!) if this bs is gonna end someone's carreer, I can't stress enough how much I hope its his own!

Thought about 8 - 12 games AFTER his fucking return.

Guy is a douchebag incredible. I'm not a Crosby fan but compared to OV Crosby is godlike for me.

Nope. Only got a two minute rip, and frankly that hit was just as egregious if nor more so than this one. I still think the only reason he got anything was because Gonchar was injured.

Justice is served. I don't have any problem with OV's game being on the edge, but I am very happy he was given a suspension that fits the crime.

exactly. there was no way they were going to suspend ovie in the superstars series. malkin, crosby or ovie could have killed someone and they would have been given 2 for roughing

I was thinking this... I never doubted that Ovechkin would be suspended.

Hmm.

Always hated OV. Dirty bastard. Even though Danny B is long gone from Buffalo i still remember seeing him crosscheck him. Glad the league gave him 2 games

Hey anyone remember that time Gretzky kneed that guy... no wait how about that time Mario cross-checked.... wait okay it was Ron Francis and he tomohawked a guy over the head. O wait those 3 world class talents never did those things. Than wy is OV playing like a reckless classless douchebag. O wait I remember why. This guy if healthy can become the NHL's only 1000 goal scorer. It will never happen if he continues to play the way he does.
