So I just did my yearly ritual of calling Time Warner and ordering Center Ice...I didn't look up the price before calling because...well...hell, I'm going to order it anyway.

I was just informed Time Warner is charging $165 for it and that's their "early bird special" so I can only imagine the normal price is in the $180 range.

IIRC, I paid around $130 last year and $120 the year before that, so this is a significant jump.
Is anyone else getting soaked by their cable provider this season or does Time Warner just hate me because I'm an employee?

If I remember correctly, that's how much DirecTV cost last year.

I think it has to do with all that contract crap between them.

I just watch online for free so I don't care.

I can't believe you even got someone on the phone (before the season starts) that knew what you were talking about. I know my rate increased last year from 149.99 to 159.99. Can't wait to see what it is this year.

I'll look on the bright side. We watch more hockey than anything so we definitely get our monies worth. It costs that much or more for two people to go to a game, so if I have to give one up, I will.

Oh I know Schony...mine is a minor complaint.
I immediately did the math in my head and determined I'm cool with $2 a game ;)

I'm just going to throw this in here for the heck of it... If you have TWC HD, there's an awesome game on right now (MSGHD) Rangers and Detroit.

Looking for my boy Kots :shhh: ;)

I don't get paid until October 1, so I'm just keeping the call on hold until then. I paid Comcast $160 last year, which was a big increase from all previous years where I feel sure I never paid over $130. All of those were the "early bird" prices as well.

They better not bump it up another 20% or so or I may be forced to...ah, to....ah, get really...upset.

Oh yeah, that would be bad news for them.

I haven't checked what they are bilking me for this season, as Crosscheck mentioned it doesn't matter I'm getting it any way. I have thought about calling and bitching about giving me a reduced price, as they lost Versus, and I will miss all the games they carry, including the playoffs. Doesn't really sit well with me that they raise the prices and I get less coverage.

This will be the tenth year (I am pretty sure) I have had Center Ice, and they do grant me a perk once in awhile for being such a loyal/stupid consumer.

I have considered looking into dishTV or some other carrier to see if I can get VS back for close to the same cost.......but in all actuality, I am pretty lazy about those things until I get hella pissed. :violence-uzi:

I think it's sick that they raise the price but at the same time their pissing contest with MSG is keeping them from offering HD games for us. What a bunch of fucking bullshit.

By all means argue with them. I know people that have gotten deals like $10 off for 10 months or half price Center Ice when they complain enough.

And I still think they'll have VS back early in the season.

Yeah, mine got jacked up to the 165ish area as well.

But hey, at least this year they're delivering a crisp clear HD picture for center ice customers.
what? you say they're not doing that?

Well at least they'll probably let us see the post game stuff that we, as hockey fans want to see.
Oh...not that either you say?

Well...at least they lubed it up pretty well before they jammed it up our...
OUCH...oh wait, no they didnt.
