With regards to the Hitler Youth, you're dead wrong sir. This does not compare one bit.

- The United States government is not mandating membership in a pro-state organization.
- The United States government is not dictating that pro-state ideology is taught in schools.
- The United States government is not forcing youths to participate in military exercises.
- The United States government is not suppressing any non-sanctioned ideas or thoughts.

All of the above were hallmarks of the Hitler Youth.

I'm through discussing this subject. You guys are going to believe what you want to believe, and are clearly not open to reasoned discussion. I'm simply have no interest in participating in half baked Glenn Beck inspired conspiracy theories about a secret plot to brainwash the youth of our country, simply because a few teachers did something stupid and it ended up on Youtube. This is not me 'taking my ball and going home' as has been said previously, I just have nothing more to contribute on the subject that I haven't already said.

I'm also particularly inspired that there are already 5 public schools named for Barack Obama and counting. This will certainly make it a lot easier for teachers to properly educate the children to believe in our leader, and spread his message of hope and change.

Yup, this is just exactly how the political forums used to be when Bush was president. Zilla, Squanto, CV, and I would all talk about how Bush tried to indoctrinate the youth of the country in a Hitleresque conspiracy.

Look at the pure exuberance on the faces of these school children celebrating their hero, President Barack Obama, with joyous singing and dancing! The teachers certainly did an amazing job preparing and choreographing them for this video. Looks like the school successfully molded the children into true believers!! Well done!!

Squanto, in reference to your post about Boyscouts and Church influencing people for years is a good point, I cant defend boyscouts really... but Church, is adults with the ability to form their own opinion and following something they believe... Children are young and very influential, and I understand that you dont condone anything that these kids are singing, but, children are very influential, and teachers telling them that Obama is the savior of America, Regardless if their parents approve of this or not, it still shouldnt happen, and thats why I think ETC is making the point of this thread, the shouldnt be teaching them this its rediculous, maybe in 40-50 years if Obama turned out to be a great president they sing songs about him... but right now when a ton of things havent happened, nothing truely spectacular... so why should these kids be doing this now... so ya... just my two cents.

I've also said repeatedly that I agree with ETC that teachers should not have their students doing things like this to get their own political points across.

My objections are the assertions that such actions are a government run conspiracy to brainwash kids.

Regarding Boy Scouts/Church vs. Public Schools...its a parents choice to sent their kid to Boy Scouts or church...public school is something that, unless a parent has the means to either homeschool or private school, they have no choice. If you don't like what the scouts is about, don't sent your kids...don't like what the church is preaching, switch churches or don't go...public school INDOCTRINATING our kids with a political polarization, most people have no choice.
