We seem to forget Ovechkin is a big guy. Lucic would probably have some trouble against him.

But Chara or Pronger could have easier times with OV then anyone close to his size.

:D

Seriously, though - if Lucic ever decided to take Ovechkin to task for something, he'd kick the shit out of AO.

Lucic would rip Ovie's arm from his socket.

Ovie can score and he can cheapshot but do not ever assume he can go one on one with some of the toughest customers of the Nhl.

Remember when Gaustad went after Ovie? Had there not have been 4 other caps standing there, Gaustad would have put Ovie in a bodybag.

That challenge was one of my favorite memories of the Drury/Briere era ever. Ovechkin is on camera pleading to the ref, and all of a sudden out of nowhere, Goose comes screaming off of the bench and just started slinging fire at Ovie. He connected with an uppercut and a cross, and the only reason OV wasn't demolished is because, Markus is right, he was surrounded by allies.

That, right there, was the beginning of our love affair with The Goose.

Oh God, I really miss Goose. How can you not love that guy? And Mair has certainly come to the rescue at times. God bless those boys.

Ha ha ha, Ovie looks up in the air like, "WTF? Penalty? Can't I kill someone?" And then he's like, "Oh ****" as Gaustad charges him.

Good article, but the McSorely incident was out of place. McSorely was trying to tap Brashear on the shoulder to let him know he wanted to fight not smack him upside the head. Remove the instigator rule and that incident never happens.

Everyone is flipping out over the Gonchar hit, watch it closely, Gonchar reacted to the hit and it ultimately ended up being a knee-on-knee hit. If Gonchar would have never reacted it would have been a clean claer hit on him, not knee-to-knee.

The Gleason one was intentional though, Gonchar one wasn't.

intentional or not though, it still happened and disciplinary actions should still be taken. the intent to injure just makes whatever discipline is handed out that much more sever. do we really think that all the hooking and tripping penalties are intentional?

I agree with disciplinary actions for that sorta stuff, but you do have to look at intent still. Yes it is hard sometimes but then again. Would you really want to suspend someone for 25 games because of a hit that was a freak accident, or suspend someone for 5 games because he went after someone and tried to kill them, but nothing too serious happened?

I'm all for this suspension, yes it could have been 3-4 games instead of 2, but now if he gets suspended again it will probably be longer, so he is going to have to play smarter with his hits, because the league will most likely start to watch him a bit more. If not, he is exactly like Pronger, don't care ot get suspended or not.

on the gonchar hit, it is partially gonchars fault

should ovie have gotten more than two, yes

major+game misconduct would have been fair, but not past that

Ovechkin is a big reason why some people even watch the games, he is exciting and puts passion into his game and others around him.

It's not funny for Free Ovechkin signs, even though the Caps are 5-2 without him anyways.
