Der Spiegel was not impressed with Obama's speech.

So we've got some pretty varied opinions here, but one thing is certain...the President didn't do himself any favors by taking 80 days to come up with this plan. He's losing the hearts and minds at home.

He didn't do himself any favors by taking so long, but I thought his decision in the long run was the right one (aside from a few minor details like an 18 month deadline  ) He didn't lose my mind or heart tonight, he got a piece of it for the first time. That could all change tomorrow. I don't know. For tonight, I have to say I fell on the favorable side rather than in opposition to his decision. Had his announced he was sending no more troops at all, I would be ballistic.

There now Schony, hold onto hope. I more than others have a unique view of the decision. I helped write 4 letters in my time in and its never easy witnessing a decision like this. My stomach turns, I get ill just like you do, knowing that these 30 thousand are a feeble effort just to keep the status quo in place.

The draft is what is needed, it is such a harsh terrian with vast expanses. My former CO and myself sat around with google earth for god's sake and came up with a 4 pronged push into Pakistan from Afghanistan, 1.5 million troops in each push with an additional 8.4 million to hold ground gained in the advance, from the south, land 6.6 million Marines, from the east send in 30 to 40 million troops from India. Kill every living human in your path until each force reaches the focul point, leave nothing left alive.

I know it sounds outrageous and inhumane, but it solves the problem permenantly and solves multiple regioinal problems.
1. Taliban and Al-Qeada = dead in this region
2. India - Pakistan tensions = India(democracy) wins, have a nice day
3. Leave Pakistan to India to clean up, send the Army to the border with Iran and reconstitute the amphib force of Marines, send them into the Gulf and tell Iran to comply or prepare to reap the whirl wind.

the problem with trying to get rid of the taliban is that it's like trying to get rid of christians, or masons, or jehovas witnesses...
