No, as a matter of fact. Sorry I gave that impression.
I learned about presidents in a historical context in school and was taught that some of them like Washington and Lincoln were particularly badass and that's why we got a day off.
But we didn't exactly praise any of them...in song or otherwise.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that my elementary school did NOT have us singing praises about Richard Nixon. Never...ever. Or Ford. I did, however, shake Jimmy Carter's hand in high school when he was campaigning in Rochester against Reagan. Our marching band was selected to play for him along with one of the city schools and one of the east side schools. I grew up in a Rebulican house and remain a strong Republican...but it was wicked cool to shake the presidents hand, even if he was a moron and had no chance against the Gipper.

Totally different type of situation, but it WAS school. I still think the videos of the kids singing is creepy as hell. Think what you want...I don't care who the president is...it just seems like brainwashing.
