I've had people come to my house once a week for months, even with me telling them to skip my address on their next rounds. They send small children so you feel bad telling them to leave. Fucking Bullshit tactics. And the fact that little kids are learning whatever your religious beliefs are before any science has been taught to them is crappy too. I'm not saying specifically with your religion, but all religions in general. Kids should have the ability to educate themselves before having a belief system instilled in their bones from birth. Most religions do not allow this.

This is not a discussion about the pros and cons , or tactics and methods of different belief systems.

I see nothing wrong with your post, and feel a little sorry that you were attacked and a relatively amicable thread became less than that. You stated your beliefs which is the purpose of the thread. Well done. I disagree with you to a certain extent, but well done.

I've never seen kids come to my door preaching but yeah, that'd probably seem weird to me too. What's wrong with parents raising their kids to believe what they believe? Wouldn't you want to raise your kids to believe that there is no god? What you're saying goes both ways. If a religious parents should allow their kids to learn about science first shouldn't an atheist parent allow their kids to learn about religion first? For me, I want my kids to grow up in my religion and hopefuly decide for themselves one day that it is true. Parents really can't force their children to believe what they believe, once the children are out on their own, as you can see from the many people just in this thread who were raised Christian and are now Atheist, it is really up to them to decide what they believe. People have to decide whether they want to be religious or not themselves, their parents can't do it for them, all they can do is raise them with what they believe and hope they find it to be true as well.

Evolution is as proven as the theory of gravity. Sorry you didn't have the chance to go to college in today's world when they teach you the truth about why our species came to be. Our species is not the "be all end all" of the world. Evolution is an ongoing process. Yes, we are still evolving today.

It's fair to say that anyone can read through this thread and find something they disagree with. However, I'll again stress that the POINT of the thread was not to debate the positives or negatives or any particular belief system. It was not to turn into a 'I'm right and you're wrong' discussion.'

When it comes to religion, I think we can all agree that if do believe or don't, you should respect the opposite viewpoint. It seems like we're getting away from that, so I'm locking this thread before emotions start running wild and shit gets nasty.
