VERY BELOW average? I think there are probably a few defensive-minded assistant coaches that are in the NHL right now that would disagree. Guys that set up ways to neutralize Thomas. You know I love ya Markus, but "very below" was pretty strong. PGTSD. I get it too.

Markus, stop using his contract as any excuse, you and everybody knows it was a knee-jerk reaction to losing Drury and Briere and we had to match that contract.

I don't think there has been any type of offer like that for a RFA since Vanek and Penner were dealt those deals.

We know he didn't deserve 7 million, but who thought Lowe was going to pull that shit out, so stop using his contract as any hold in any argument. We didn't give him that contract and if we would have given him a contrct it would have been for 2-3 million less. And we would probably have to sign him at the end of this year also since this is I think his last year for RFA eligibility.

I wish he played games more like he played tonight, actually.

To me, goal scoring for Vanek doesn't matter. Because most games, hes going to score the same amount he gives up.

As long as he doesn't make any glaring mistakes 5 on 5, i'm ok with him. I don't need him to score. As long as he is not a negative factor, I think we'll be ok.

Like tonight, he made a few minor mistakes, like that turnover that almost led to a goal, but i'll be honest, besides that, it wasn't too bad.

The reason we lost tonight was because of the entire team not because of Thomas Vanek alone.

i think markus knows hockey. just is a little hard on vanek.

I'm surprised you didn't put this on Vanek, and he doesn't give up as many as he scores Markus.

Half the time, and most recently the goals scored against were not Vanek's fault at all.

I didn't watch tonight's game, so I can't comment on him.
