Never saw a clear replay last night (could be that I wasn't seeing anything clearly last night), but after watching the replay today on NHL on the Fly it appears the second Ranger goal never went in. I watched it over and over again in slo-mo and it looks as if the goal hit the crossbar and bounced out. Having trouble finding a link to add here. Like the title says though, it doesn't matter now, but could have been huge last night if they reviewed it.

People on HF Boards were talking about that last night...I never really questioned it until I saw people discussing it. I don't know...you would think one of the players on the ice would be the first to say something if they didn't see it clearly go in. Although stranger things have happened.

Yea fly, like that Brad May goal being disallowed and non-reviewable because of intent.

The league should always look at some sort of replay after a goal is scored, because if it's questionable it can be fully reviewed. Yes it adds on possibly 1 extra minute to have the goal judge look at a camera angle to make sure it's in, but it will eventually make sure every goal either missed or questionable gets reviewed.

Especially in times like the Brad May goal against Dallas.

Who could ever forget the Phantom goal:

(AP) 2000
"A blistering shot, a disbelieving all-world goalie, a mysterious knock at the door. It all added up to another disputed goal, and a replay nightmare that never seems to end for the Buffalo Sabres.

John LeClair's goal that shouldn't have been through the mesh of the net and not through Dominik Hasek helped the Philadelphia Flyers beat the snakebitten Sabres 2-1 Friday night.

The Flyers took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 first-round playoff series. The Sabres must be ready to take a sledgehammer to the league's video replay room.

"What a great hockey game it was," Sabres forward Dixon Ward said. "But regardless of the outcome, it has to be marred by something stupid again."

It was another embarrassing replay blunder for the league, and an unthinkably cruel twist for the Sabres who were beaten in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals last year on Brett Hull's disputed goal with his foot in the crease.

LeClair blasted a slap shot from Hasek's left side for a power-play goal that tied the score at 1-all. The shot was so hard it was difficult to see how the puck got past Hasek, but it ended up bouncing around in the net.

"I blamed myself," Hasek said. "I thought maybe I left a hole."

But a close-up television replay from behind the net showed that LeClair's goal went in on the outside of the post. Even in slow-motion, the puck was traveling too fast to tell whether it went under the mesh or through it."

I was questioning it myself when it happened but I guess if they don't hear the distinctive "ting" sound then it's assumed it entered the net.

 The funny thing is, that goal would never have stood up under review had the play not resumed. I will never forget the look on Hasek's face. He turned to his left like "WTH?" He knew that puck didn't get by him.

All in the life of a Buffalo sports fan

Remember, according the douche Bettman they waited 52 seconds and no one questioned the goal.

It was wrong, you knew it, no one expected that it was wrong, but it was. Why not take it away? Your a freaking corrupt bastard. There. We get it. Your replay systems are SOOOO GREAT. Why the hell was Buffalo screwed so many times?! Answer that one man. ANSWER IT! :violence-smack:

Those types are shots are deceptive on camera, and doubly so when they hit the padded bar since you don't get that 'ping'.

Like I said, take the extra minute when a goal is scored and review it, Makes the game ten minutes longer, but it cuts out this shit about goals being scored which weren't or nothing.

If a game takes a few minutes longer, but the call is correct then the fans bitch about the team if we lose.
If a game takes a few minutes less, but the call is incorrect then the fans bitch about the league.

Which would you rather have Bettman?
