And the wounds continue to bleed...

http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4722218

Quote:
WINDERMERE, Fla. -- A Florida trooper who suspected Tiger Woods was driving under the influence sought a subpoena for the golfer's blood results from the hospital he was taken to after crashing his SUV, but prosecutors rejected the petition for insufficient information, according to a police report released Monday.

A witness, who wasn't identified in the report, told trooper Joshua Evans that Woods had been drinking alcohol earlier. The same witness also said Woods had been prescribed two drugs, Ambien and Vicodin.

The report did not say who the witness was but added it was the same person who pulled Woods from the vehicle after the accident outside his home. Woods' wife, Elin, has told police that she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the Cadillac Escalade to help her husband out.

"Impairment of the driver is also suspected due to the careless driving that resulted in the traffic crash," Evans wrote in the report dated Nov. 30 that was released by the State Attorney General's office.

Woods' attorney, Mark NeJame, didn't return a phone call for comment.

The world's No. 1 golfer hit a hydrant and a tree around 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 27. The Florida Highway Patrol last week cited Woods for careless driving and fined him $164.

Another police report offered new details into the accident from the officer who first responded to the 911 call.

Woods was at first unresponsive, lying on the road covered in a blanket and resting his head on a pillow, according to the report from the Windermere Police Department. The officer, whose name was redacted from the report, said Woods tried to stand up before the officer told him to lie down for his safety. The officer used the pillow to immobilize the golfer's spine.

Woods was bleeding from cut lips but was breathing normally. His wife, Elin, was kneeling over him.

The sport utility vehicle's engine was still running, the front passenger door was jammed and both rear door windows were broken out. Two golf clubs were next to a golf cart, which also was in the road. The officer found $235 in the vehicle, according to the report, which was obtained through a public records request.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators arrived after Woods had been taken to a hospital, the report said, explaining why they were unable to interview him at the accident site. In the days that followed, investigators tried three times to interview Woods, but he refused to meet with them.

The accident -- and Woods' refusal to answer questions about it -- fueled speculation about a possible dispute between the golfer and his wife.

Just days before the crash, a National Enquirer story alleged Woods had been seeing a New York nightclub hostess, Rachel Uchitel, who has denied it. After the crash, Us Weekly reported that a Los Angeles cocktail waitress named Jaimee Grubbs claims she had a 31-month affair with Woods.

Last week, Woods issued a statement saying he had let his family down with unspecified "transgressions" that he regrets with "all of my heart." He did not elaborate.

I dont think any police agency wants ANYTHING to do with this mess. IT will get messy in the civil context. He is fucked; got the shit beat out of him by his wife, is the but of millions of jokes, will most likely spend countless months in the legal system, will lose much of his fortune, fucked up his Escalade, and will lose all his sponsors only to be picked up by Trojan and Ripple. PERSNIZZLE BITCH!!!!!!!!!:)

The situation swirling around Tiger woods has taken a much darker turn. His mother-in-law was apparently rushed to the hospital on life support from his residence via ambulance this morning. It's also reported that Woods OD'd after Thanksgiving, and was sent to the hospital under an alias where he was put on a breathing tube.

I honestly am concerned how bad this will get before it bottoms out. What had been a humorous story about Woods getting beat up by his wife for cheating is now becoming much more troubling and disturbing.

The 'on life support' comment that's circulating is terrible journalism.

The actual comment from the Orlando TV station:

Quote:
The log also showed the patient initially refused transport, but was later listed as an advanced life support patient.

I'm not totally versed on Florida EMS protocols, but in NYS a patient is generally considered an ALS patient simply if they require an IV.

In fact, a diabetic with low blood sugar is considered as an 'advanced life support patient'.

This whole Tiger thing is just getting sadder and sadder because of the circus TMZ-style reporting on everything that's happening down there.

Squanto, I wish this were nothing but baseless gossip, but enough is going on here with 911 rescue calls and overdoses that I tend to think the opposite is true.

I don't disagree that's something's going on down there, not at all.

My beef is that this patient was refereed to as 'being on life support' , which is SIGNIFICANTLY different than being an 'advanced life support patient'.

Basically:

'On life support' : Connected to machines that are doing your breathing or circulating blood mechanically.
'Advanced life support patient' : Have an IV in your arm.

Minor beef, I know. It's still inaccurate reporting though.

You were right on the money, Squanto. It's good to have an EMT on the message boards!

Retired EMT. :)

I still miss it though. If I could make the money I make now but go back into EMS, I'd probably do it in a heartbeat. Although, the screwball hours and odd smells might be less appealing in my old age. :)

I'm only 31, but EMS hours on ambulances are brutal.

I used to be scheduled for 4 12 hour shifts a week. 6a-6p , stuff like that. Fun part would be 6a-6p on Monday, then 6p-6a on Tuesday. Past that, it wouldn't be uncommon for their to be gaps in the schedule, so as you're getting ready to come off shift, you'd have dispatch asking you to stay on for a few more hours until they could cover the gap.

It wasn't uncommon for me to work 18 hours, drive home, sleep 4 hours, then pull another 18. Kicks your ass after a while, especially since I was only making around $7 an hour. They've unionized since I left, and they make a little more now, but it's still not great.

Paramedic students had it even worse. As part of their curriculum, they had to do ambulance ride time, and ER work. Most of those paramedic students were also working 4 12 hour days, so they'd work for 12 hours, take off their work shirt and put a blank white 'EMS Student' shirt on, then work 6 more hours for nothing, sleep for 4 hours, then go to medic class, leave, and work for 12 hours.

It's a brutal field. Most medics that stay long term strive to get into management positions, or fly cars. Fly cars have all the paramedic tools/equipment/drugs, but don't carry patients. They either backup non-medic units, or act as field supervisors driving around babysitting the other units. Usually more pay, and much less work. You could sit in a station and get some sleep in, not have to drive around and sit on corners, etc. One guy lived in the zone he was assigned, so he's just sit at home and only go out on calls. Cushy job if you could put up with enough shit to get it.

Last report was apparently incorrect. Woods' mother-in-law is still in the hospital listed in stable condition with stomach pain.

Tiger woods on advanced life support = headache and IV....Mother in law ready to die = chest pains....Tiger crashes his car and in serious condition = got the shit beat out of him by his big viking bitch wife....There is some SERIOUS media sensationalizing here. Now folks, I wonder about where this sort of sensationalized reporting ends? Here? The Senate? The White House? I'm having a difficult time believing anything in print...Of course I have always thought the press was a bunch of commercial hungry gluttons with the professional scruples of amoebas.

Tiger's next step...

Appearing in a press conference standing with his wife, Tiger Woods tearfully admits to the world that he has been battling a serious addiction to pain killers and sleeping pills the past couple years, and announces that he'll be checking into a rehabilitation clinic right away. He informs us that the addiction took over his life, causing him to make terrible decisions which caused serious pain to himself, his family, as well as his golf game.

Tiger apologizes to his fans and hopes they will be able to forgive him, and says his only priority now will be to get well again and be there for his family.

Six weeks later, Tiger goes on 60 minutes and discusses how getting clean was the toughest thing he's ever had to do, and that his recovery is still day-by-day. He also tells us how God helped him through, and that despite he doesn't deserve her forgiveness, his wife has stayed with him through this entire ordeal.

Tiger than admits to a limited number of "transgressions" regarding his fidelity, and says the media reports were way overblown. He then says that this terrible episode allowed him to understand how precious his family is, and what's really important in life.

I know you're not just now catching on. :P

Most people, though, will openly discuss how the media is that way and then turn around five days later and tell me something that is obviously 80% false. Um. People don't really practice what they preach when it comes to the media...

While the press/media are hardly the salt of the earth; they didn't put Tiger or his family in this situation.

Tiger did.

Agreed, but what exactly did Tiger do? Virtually everything we learn about current events stem from the news media and this particular circus is a perfect example of the ridiculous efforts of that media to rape the intelligence of the public....but then again the mainstream public may be only intelligent enough to accept gossip rag type of reporting.
