They won't change the names, why change something that isn't broken.

They need to change Bettman out and get someone who is better for Hockey than him, even though he has done a hell of a job, that is something that needs a new fresh face.

Just to be sure, we're not lambasting Wyshynski, right? If I read that right, he's in favor of changing the division and conference names, and not the trophies.

Which brings me to this point - I am ALL sorts of in favor of changing the conference and division names.

Changing the names of these awards is a major chunk taken out of what is left of the game of hockey. They've tinkered with this, fucked up that and now it's, "Oh, lets trash one of the few pieces of history the game has left. It's not 'In' to see the stars of today have their names linked to old farts like Art Ross, James Norris and Conn Smythe." Fuck. You.

Rename the Divisions if you like. Hell, go back to the Wales and Campbell Conf. That would be awesome. Touch the Hardware, and you're asking for a beating. People in Canada got all pissy when they were going to rename the Grey Cup a season or two ago. Magine what would happen in hockey if they fucked with these legendary names?

That's just a train wreck waiting to happen.
