What? :x

You post something every time he does something good. I'm entitled to point out when he pulls a same old same old.

Any Max fan that would try to storm in here and defend him.

It was mostly rhetorical.

Is there any reasoning to why he was a -2 that night, or do we just suspend reasoning to be a Sabre fan?

I'm sure there is a reason he is a PPG player in Atlanta, and was useless in Buffalo. Maybe he should have been benched 2 or 3 more times, and that would have turned things around for him. Maybe a few more miles on the bikes?? Take away his teddy bear?

He was a -2 that night because they got shutout I do believe.

Yeah, it's a simple reason.

In Buffalo he was asked to use his linemates, and backcheck. He decided not to do either on a regular basis.

In Atlanta, he's not asked to play defense, or backcheck, so he's happy. They play in a more wide open and less restrictive system, and that suits his talents better than it did here.

These Max arguments are getting tiring. The guy ain't here anymore. Glad to see he's doing well, past that, WGASWGAF?

(That's who gives a shit who gives a fuck?)

So this couldn't go in the other Max thread?

Nope. This one's got a whole new tone and theme:

Remembering why he's not here anymore.

It's cool guys, these passive aggressive accusations are received with pride, considering he would be leading us in points, and 3rd on the forwards for plus minus.

I would be able to deal with that stat line, were he on the team.

All I've ever said is that he was treated far to harshly in Buffalo, and am glad that he's doing well elsewhere. Some people (I think we all know who) are bitter that Ruff was not able to use his talents to their potential, and attribute his success to line mates and flukes in Atlanta.

... the Euphrates ain't just a river in Egypt (is that how the saying goes?)

Sure. Lets blame Lindy for Max's inability to follow instructions.

Lets blame Lindy for Max refusing to back check, or pass the puck.

Lets blame Lindy for Max never driving to the net.

Pointing the finger at Lindy Ruff for Max's shortcomings is absolutely insane, to the point that I almost find it comical that, much like Afinogenov, his fans couldn't fess up to his own shortcomings.

You know why his game has changed in Atlanta? Because he knew his career and payroll was on the line, and he stopped fucking whining and started playing hockey.

He manned up. But I refuse to give him credit for it, because it's something he should have done a long time ago while he was still here in Buffalo.

What I'd just really love to see, is for Max fans to own up to his problems instead of pushing the blame onto somebody else.

I've never claimed max is a defensive player who backchecks well. Ever.

I wanted him to be moved just as much as the next guy because he didn't fit well in Buffalo, but I can actually recognize when someone puts effort into something. His work ethic has not changed, at all.

You're the one afraid to confront the fact that you were wrong (unfamiliar ring to it eh?). Of course he knew his living was on the line in his contract year, when everyone was lobbying for him to be moved or waived, you're ignoring the fact that this was a common theme during his last two years.

I've never said that we should have kept him, rather that his effort is paying off when he is used in the right way, like in Atlanta.

Yup, different system different result. I think anyone who doesn't see that is just a Max HATER, and won't admit that. He was awesome here during the run-n-gun days with Danny and Dru, and is awesome in ATL now. He didn't suck until we started our ever successful defense first "system"(God I hate that word). Blaming it on laziness, inattentiveness, or outright greed just isn't gonna cut it.

Then this is where the root of our argument is, because I can tell you hands down, that Max did not work hard OR smart in his last 2 years in Buffalo.

Max floated away from the puck. When he had it on his stick, he'd be flying as usual, but he'd make stupid plays that resulted in giveaways instead of listening to what Lindy told him to do with it.

Watch any game tape with Max in the lineup last year, and watch game tape of him in Atlanta this year.

He's a different player in Atlanta than he was in Buffalo.

You think he's scoring goals and getting assists by playing the same way he did here? Seriously?

Your logic is laughable.

And you obviously misunderstood my contract opinion. I know this was a two year theme. That was my point. He didn't give a shit because he was getting paid.

It wasn't until he had to try out for a hockey club in order to get a job that he manned up and did what he should have been doing the past 2 years in Buffalo.

Great point. When you give up trying to win games and just concentrate on scoring goals in 7-4 losses you maximize his talent. Stupid Sabres.
