I sometimes like to venture into my local LCBO (liquor control board of Ontario) and pick up some of their interesting looking beers. Todays choice:

Goes down soo incredibly smooth, especially for a strong beer (7%). Lots of interesting flavours from it. Anyone had?

tomorrow I have:

I know that when it comes to international beers, I love Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter (England).

Originally made in the USA, but easily the most recognizable label in the world.

I know.
but i don't know why u call it piss? slow down.

i bet u never tasted it. the city of Budweis is about 1 h away from my home ;)
the ending "er" means of Budweis. they simply missed to protect the brand early enough. they started the production 700 years ago.

i only want to know you that in the traditional beer countries (germany austria tschechien) budweiser is not the beer from america...
It's not available in my country , so i don't know if its good stuff :D

1. I'm calling the American Budweiser piss, because it is. If your version of "Budweiser" is made with adjuncts I'll call that piss too but I've never had it. I do know Austrians don't have a version of the Reinheitsgebot, so it's entirely possible.
2. I'm the last person that needs a beer lesson.

@ Reinheitsgebot
In general the Austrian and German Reinheitsgebot is the same.

brewing is a very serious business in these countries ;)

BUT the Reinheitsgebot in Germany doesnt exist any more!!
Thank God, most brewers still use it in Austria and Germany. Unfortunately the European Union ruined this law.

PS: Budweis is not in Austria.

All major German breweries still follow it.
It doesn't matter if it's enforced by the government, it's enforced by tradition.

yes i wrote it.

In Austria and Germany the reinheitsgebot is something holy ;). and it s good to know what s in your beer :)

that's one of the reasons why foreign beers are not very successfull here.
i only remember that CARLSBERG is a main Sponsor of the UEFA. so 2008 Fans had to drink it in the Fanzones (euro2008). Carlsberg is a piss with soda. SCANDAL!!

IMO that's one of the main reasons German beers are for the most part very uninteresting.
Munich Helles - boring
Dortmunder Export - boring
Marzen - boring
Pils - boring
Altbier - boring

Rauchbier - interesting but everyone hates it
Berliner Weisse - interesting but everyone hates it

Yes, they have hundreds of years of tradition but there's nothing new.
That's why right now the US has better beer than Germany.
That's not my opinion, it's a fact:

This is a good thread. I have had a ton of domestic beers, but I could get schooled on international beers. I have had very few.

Anyone had Newcastle? That is one of the few imports (besides canada obviously) I have had. Different type of beer, wondering how that rates.

So long as we're boasting fine leading beers like Coors Light, no other country on earth can compete with American beer! USA! USA!
