I like to butter the pan ALOT, toast one side and flip the bread. Then add the cheese, more butter, and toast both sides. mmmmm Add a touch of horseradish for a tang. Fresh garlic fried in the butter is awesome too. Never tried cheddar. My next set will be extra sharp cheddar, sounds great!

Goodness....

Grilled cheese sammiches. Oh, my.

They're like: "Hmmmmmm. Do I choose hot, dirty sex? Or, the grilled cheese sammich?...I'll take the sammich, please!"

Yummy mouth-orgasms. omnomnomnomnom. :D

I prefer the simplicity of American on trashy white bread. With lotsa buttah...anything more elaborate or "gourmet" might make my head explode.

;)

...throw in a mug of tomato soup, and I'll be your slave, for life.

Grilled American Cheese on Rye-with/without tomatoes, and bacon.

My secret ingredient inside? Mayo on both sides of the bread. (can't be Miracle Whip). Really makes the sandwich for me.

Oh, and a bowl of tomato/basil soup. Yummy!

Most of the time, it's white, buttered on both sides, with American cheese. Served with tomato soup.

In college, I worked in a dining hall that was famous for our HUGE grilled cheese sammiches. Two pieces of 1" thick, Texas Toast, dipped in egg, battered and pan fried with a 3/4" thick hunk (not a slice) of Velveeta. Damn I miss those!

HaHa!! When my Army kid was little, he called waffles "Awfuls" ;)

Yes, I was making grilled cheese went I made this thread - Swiss, Provolone, Cheddar on Marble Rye and a bowl :o of cottage cheese.

I remembered that SabresGal created a thread about apples once and everyone loved it.
I had no idea this many people had an opinion on grilled cheese

Cheddar - as sharp as possible. I prefer it with white cheddar.

And some honey mustard in the sandwich. Sometimes Frank's too.
