Fetisov to return to competitive hockey

"The coach of CSKA Moscow says former NHL player Vyacheslav (Slava) Fetisov will join the Russian team in a competitive game in the Continental Hockey League.

Fetisov, who turned 51 in April, is a lawmaker with Federation Council and president of CSKA. He ended his professional career in 1998 at age 40.

CSKA coach Sergei Nemchinov says he expects Fetisov to play against SKA St. Petersburg on Friday.

"We urgently need one more defender after Denis Kulyash was injured," Nemchinov said. "Fetisov practises constantly and has agreed to help the team. We just need to settle some legal procedures."

Crazy old fuck. I love it - Hey, if he can play...so can I.

I believe that for a couple games, he'll do okay. If he has to play more than that, he'll start to look his age.

Anyone (healthy) who played at the level he once did, can still do things others can't. Hell, Gordie Howe did it.

Fetisov played on the Soviet team that lost to the U.S. in the semifinals of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics...that's how old he is. The "Miracle" Game?

BTW...he lost the game played yesterday, and swore he wouldn't return to Hockey
