Oh wait no it wasnt.

I had some people over last night while the game was on. while we were all technically 'watching'...it's pretty easy to lose total focus on the game and just sort of be watching out the corner of your eye.

anyways, we tune in about halfway through the first period, the score is 1-1. As we all know, kaleta scored the next two goals, and i'm exclaiming to everyone "Man I fucking LOVE this kid, he's tough as nails, works hard, and even pops in goals! Brilliant!" and this girl shannon next to me goes "Oh you know he had a hatrick tonight, I heard the announcer say it after his last goal."

well, having not seen the first goal, and been completely distracted during the intermissions, I really thought patty had a hatty goin. THEN I say aloud "Patrick fucking Kaleta, I am SO glad we have him" to which shannon says "oh, his first name is patrick? Maybe thats what the announcer said instead of Hatrick"

Sure enough, no hatrick for patrick.

Anyways...Damn i'm glad this kids on our team. Effort, hustle, give-it-your-fucking-ALLness, heart and the ability to score?

Now the real question, when patty gets a fatty (contract that is) will he turn into a spineless-lazy- overpaid waste of a roster spot? (coughcoughpominvillecoughcough)

What fat contract? The kid scores 15-20 points a season and contributes 9-13 mins of ice time a night...before we give him the Hart let's at least put something in perspective. He's not going to make Avery money, he's going to make Mair money...

Why would a third line Grinder make 5 million a year anyways?

My thoughts exactly, why DOES pominville make that much money?

As for Kaleta, I guess I tend to have a more real-life calibration of payment. Millions of dollars a year for playing a game is a fatty contract in my eyes. Of COURSE he wont make a ton relative to other players, i'd guess 2/year? Dude is freaking valuable, can anyone deny that? Why would/should he make less than hecht?

Whatever, the point was not how much money he makes, but when he is signed to some more lucrative contract for some extended number of years, will he maintain this level of intensity, or will he get comfy and become useless?

Pominville was a bit overpaid yes, but we have so many others to blame for contract and player salaries inflated he wouldn't of gotten less.

But we have a guy capable of plotting 30 goals, and getting over 80 points a year. Just as long as he works his tail off, I hope he starts to break out of what he is and start producing even more. I'm fine with the team, but Roy, Vanek, Connolly, and Pominville need to be consistent.
